A prolonged blackout may be imminent in Lagos State following a sudden shutdown of the Egbin Power Station and a simultaneous transmission line outage.
Egbin Power Station suffered a major operational disturbance, leading to a complete loss of generation.
This has lead to a significant reduction in power generation currently affecting electricity supply across the country, particularly within the Lagos region.
Egbin Power Station, which is the largest electricity-generating plant on the national grid and a major contributor to daily power supply in Nigeria, experienced a major operational disturbance.
At approximately 8:21 p.m. on April 28, 2026, Egbin Power Station recorded a total loss of generation, dropping from about 641MW to zero output.
This incident was caused by the failure of the plant’s central compressor, in addition to a malfunction of the circulating water pump system, which necessitated an immediate shutdown of all generating units to safeguard the facility.”
The impact of the generation loss was compounded by a transmission constraint affecting power delivery into Lagos.
Power supply to the Lagos region is currently further restricted due to the forced outage of the Osogbo–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, thereby limiting the evacuation of available generation into the Lagos load centre.

I think this chart misses his original point. English literacy is NOT the only literacy. I learned a big lesson while building products in Africa: so many people can read in local languages that aren't English, yet would still be considered illiterate by English speakers.

MTN on the other hand only asks you if you’ve registered up to four numbers cos they’re open for business.

You shouldn't be able to register two SIMs simultaneously. Maybe a month's space between registrations. There is an easy tech fix for that once it becomes policy. Not preventing you from having two lines eventually, but preventing fraudulent use. This MUST become policy or we will have major issues.

Went to register a SIM today, and what happened honestly got me thinking. After the first process, he captured my face, and I assumed everything was done. Next thing, he said the registration didn’t go through because the network was bad. Since I wasn’t paying too much attention at first, we started the process all over again. This time, I noticed he picked up another SIM entirely, not the one we had registered earlier. That was when it hit me… he had registered two different SIMs. This is exactly how people get implicated in things they know nothing about. I made sure I collected both SIMs, even though he kept denying it. I’m very sure of what I saw. In the next 24 hours, I’ll find out if both were activated. Please, whenever you’re registering a SIM, pay close attention. Don’t assume anything. Watch every step.

Enugu State has no crisis management team and it shows.
The government needs intelligent people who can manage crisis, show up on ground, show empathy, offer solutions, and control the narrative before Twitter does it for them.
It’s basic PR.
Most private companies already do this. But government is always late.
By the time something goes viral, the damage is already done.
Every viral crisis is a failure of response, not just a failure of infrastructure.
