@samelit140909 No, but it helps. Test caching is great because it reduces the cost of having more tests in your repo.

@arohner I saw your juxt talk about QuickCheck style testing - that was great. Do you consider a build tool such as bazel a prequisite for implementing this style of testing?

@dustingetz Proton appears to be significantly more secure, because it's e2e encrypted, and fastmail is not. I didn't see the value in leaving google for another company that can spy on me.

@arohner when you made this decision did you consider fastmail etc, why did protonmail win?

@nhooey @jamesd3142 They aren't inaccessible features, they're extra logic in CDK that isn't included in an API. "If you're configuring a new EKS cluster, also do X and Y. If config flag Z is set, also do Z'"

Has anybody tried recreating the Terraform CLI experience in Clojure?

@nhooey @jamesd3142 That being said, I'd like to resurrect it, because CDK has not been the best experience. (Node, slow deploys)

@nhooey @jamesd3142 It stalled out for business reasons. We had to write code for each new API we wanted to support. Also AWS Cloudformation and CDK include lots of extra functionality that you don't get using the API directly. See e.g. EKS spin up.

@turnerjasonuk Lack of time. Startup + small children leaves no time for hacking.

@arohner Did you get too busy for Spectrum? Just stumbled upon & looks interesting. Curious if you hit some problem or just lack of time.

The choice is never "build vs. buy". It's "build 120%", or "buy 80% and build 60%"

Hot take: Databases, including Datomic, complect storage and queries, and should be unbundled.

@atmarc If not using bazel, I wouldn't recommend AOT in tests for the reasons you describe. The speedup is also not as big because only one JVM startup. In our repo, it would be 1:30 per build. Nice, but not game-changing.
