@imPatrickT I've wanted one of these for years and never really hear anyone talk about them. Prohibitive pricetag probably has something to do with that. Guess I'm off to eBay again to find one!

if you’re bored of your phone just grab an old digital camera. i picked up a used sony RX1r that came out in 2012 and it’s quickly become one of my favorite cameras I’ve ever owned. it’s so small, has a full frame sensor, and the lens is really something special.

@AngryTomtweets I’ve seen a lot of braindead takes on the utility of AI, but this one takes the cake.

This is unreal. Someone just reimagined Tarkovsky using AI-driven camera motion. What if the camera moved — but still felt like it belonged? Let me show you what that looks like:

@FischerKing64 @Aristos_Revenge I adored this film. Beautifully shot indeed, but make no mistake, this film was not naturally lit. The cinematographer and director were very precise with how they lit scenes, using many fixtures in various ways to constitute the look & feel of the film. theasc.com/articles/the-t…

This is a shot from a French film whose English title is "The Taste of Things” that came out a couple years ago. I chose this shot because it reflects the use of natural light and shadow that is a hallmark of the photography. It isn’t for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much. I’m surprised it could be made at all. It follows a chef and his companion cook (Juliette Binoche) as they go about their lives - basically cooking, sourcing ingredients, conversing, looking for a new apprentice. It is slow-paced - the first 35 minutes consists of the two basically preparing a lavish meal. It shows you just about everything - the preparation of the food, the cooking methods, the plating. If you like films that are just wonderful to look at, and cooking is something you enjoy - you will like this very much. If not, it will be on the dull side. The film takes a tragic turn, as Binoche develops some unspecified illness. But it isn’t depressing, and concludes with the man training a talented young gal determined to learn the craft. I said at the outset that I’m surprised it could be made at all because the film relies heavily on good cinematography (it really is a joy to look at), subtle acting - and not very much plot. There is also virtually no background music to work the mind subliminally. In this age where most of what comes out is action, noisy, loud - this is very different. A nice respite.

@imPatrickT I may be on the fence about whether or not I like the look, but one thing’s for sure - I’d much rather get different movies taking a different approach to the same character, than having every single movie look the same bland, unintentional way. Yay for intentionality!

@Vimeo @WebsterMugavazi It’d be nice to at the very least be informed of these major decisions upfront, instead of learning about it through vague Twitter replies. Vimeo really went downhill.

Really disappointed to learn that @Vimeo has removed the search function on their site. This platform has always been a great place for storytellers to share and discover work - without this function, what is it good for?

@UltraLinx I’ll occasionally bring out my mirrorless camera, but 9/10 times my iPhone does everything I need.

How is the iPhone camera this good. Even the natural depth of field looks incredible. Found myself using it more than my pro mirrorless cameras due to how convenient and versatile it is. iphonecreatorcourse.com

I have seen a ton of obviously used consumer electronics in Iraq. But my favorite electronics story is the day I realized I couldn't plug a card reader into myipad, and I needed to upload some audio. A lightning to SD card device does exist, so I goggled for apple retailers

@ryanbooth At this stage, no. Not an artist. A craftsman, yes. A carpenter and a sculptor might use the same tools, techniques and vision to realise their work. But only one is called an artist. Where do I draw that line? Hard to say, but I don’t feel like I’ve earned that moniker yet.
