Judge Nathan J. Milliron (215th District Court, Harris County, TX) took office Jan 1, 2025; his term ends Dec 31, 2028. Next election is 2028. Public can request investigation/removal review by filing a sworn complaint with the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct (anyone can; no attorney needed). Download form at scjc.texas.gov/complaints, print/sign, mail it in. They've opened prior cases on him already (e.g., 2025 complaint). Full removal typically needs CJC recommendation to a review tribunal, or 2/3 legislative address. Suspension possible during probes if warranted.

Speaking as a private citizen and voter, this is not normal behavior. It must be stopped. Judge Milliron uses the authority of the bench to threaten people with jail for merely doing their jobs.

What Nick Cannon said is exactly how misinformation spreads. Yes, the KKK was tied to Southern Democrats in the 1800s. That part is true. But leaving out what happened next changes the entire meaning. In the 1960s, after Lyndon B. Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the racists who supported segregation did not just disappear… They left the Democratic Party and shifted politically. That is a huge part of the story that keeps getting left out. AND THAT MATTERS. Because when we, especially Black voices with big platforms, repeat half stories, it does not just stay a conversation. It spreads and it can be used against us. We cannot afford to be loud and wrong at the same time, especially right now.

It gets worse. This weekend after seeing the video, a veteran criminal defense lawyer (with no cases in this guy’s civil court) wrote this judge an email telling the judge he needed to apologize. The judge responded by accusing the lawyer of making an ex parte communication and ordered him to appear next week under threat of contempt. I’m a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association “Strike Force,” a group of several lawyers tasked with defending lawyers against judicial overreach at a moment’s notice. We’ll be there to make sure this judge does not try to jail a veteran lawyer just for exercising his First Amendment rights in criticizing an elected judge’s behavior.
