Today, 19th of May, is the feast of St Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury from 958-978. Sam Linley writes for EWTN GB: "St Dunstan is the saint who, according to tradition, seized the devil by the nose with a pair of red-hot tongs as Satan tried to tempt him at his forge. He worked metal, drew, illuminated manuscripts, and played the harp. He was both a man of intellect and a man who knew how to work with his hands." flic.kr/p/2sdUP8Y 📷 Stained glass window from Kings Lynn Minster.

Ave Maria! Pray the Rosary everyday to obtain peace and for an end to war. Make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. The world is in need of prayer and penance more than ever. May Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima pray for us, and may ever more generous souls heed her message. In 1917, Our Lady of the Rosary appeared 6 times in Fatima, Portugal and this was her message to three shepherd children. The first apparition took place on this day, the 13th of May. flic.kr/p/2scLB8x 📷 This statue of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima stands by the Lady chapel entrance of the Dominican church of St Dominic in San Francisco.

Illustrating today's Mass readings: "Beloved: In your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit." – 1 Peter 3:15-18, which is today's epistle for the 6th Sunday of Easter. flic.kr/p/2scdC6A 📷Fresco from the church of Santa Maria dell'Orto in Trastevere, Rome.

Feast of St. Joseph the Worker Today the Church honors Saint Joseph under the title Worker—a humble craftsman whose labor became a path to holiness. In his workshop, work was not separate from prayer—it was the place where prayer took form. Through quiet fidelity and skill, Joseph reveals the dignity of labor and the sacredness of making. For artists and all who shape the world through their work, his example is especially powerful: that excellence is not vanity—it is an offering. He is also a powerful intercessor for those seeking employment or direction in their work. Today in a particular way, we entrust to him all who are searching—for stability, for purpose, and for the opportunity to labor with dignity. Featured here: St. Joseph by Matthew Conner, a finalist in the 2020 Sacred Art Prize. Matthew Conner is the 1st prize winner of the 2025 Sacred Art Prize. St. Joseph the Worker, ora pro nobis.

Today, 28 April, is the memorial of the Dominican tertiary and great Promoter of the Rosary and of true Marian devotion, St Louis Marie de Montfort: "O God, who willed to direct the steps of the Priest Saint Louis along the way of salvation and of the love of Christ, in the company of the Blessed Virgin, grant us, by his example, that, meditating on the mysteries of your love, we may strive tirelessly for the building up of your Church. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen." flic.kr/p/2sa1ZVG 📷Statue of the saint from the colonnade in the Sanctuary of Fatima, Portugal.
