@joehenriod @MartinNebelong @zacharymandrews My last tweet didn't fit a full definition of what fan art is, but let's consider fan art by adults and (aspiring) pros for a fair comparison. Aside from that, I'd choose a child's Princess Mononoke drawing over generic AI any day, especially cause they have personality and charm

When I grew up every 5 year old artist drew Batman the second they got past stick figures. It doesn’t always add a personal spin or strive for craftsmanship. You wouldn’t tell little kids not to draw their favorite superhero. And unfortunately, we are just in the 5 year old stage of Ai art right now.

So, by now I'm sure you saw the AI fanart recreation of the Princess Mononoke trailer. It got a LOT of feedback, mostly from people telling the creator what a terrible thing he did and how AI assisted workflows can never be used for anything good or meaningful and most of all that it can never be used for art. That's such nonsense. Of course it can. If it's wielded by artists and great storytellers, great things will come of it. If you hand a violin to someone on the street they'll be able to make it make sounds.. if you hand it to a talented musician it becomes a conveyer of thoughts, emotion and art. Here's a small scene from Mononoke that I did an AI take on.. it's far from perfect and to animate this properly would require much more work. The AI workflows we have today are lacking so many control elements. But to think those things won't come.. come on. Of course they will. But most importantly, in a way where they don't overtake the art completely, but instead acts like an "amplifier" of the artists using the tools. This technology will be in most of our creative tools in the very near future with full controllability. Oh and I never liked the idea of turning old disney classics into live-action films, or doing the same with the beautiful work of Studio Ghibli. But for the purpose of this post I hope you'll forgive me ;-) #art #animation

@MartinNebelong @zacharymandrews Fan art typically adds a personal spin or strives for the craftsmanship of the original creators. The AI renderings of Princess Mononoke I saw did neither. While live-action is new, it looks uninspired and generic, adding nothing of interest to the universe in my opinion.

@zacharymandrews Yeah, the same could be said about all fanart though. People do it out of love for the originals and because it resonates with a larger audience.. Like it or not. And I agree, original work is always more interesting to me but unfortunately that's how social media work 😕

🧵I’ve read through the evidence section—the first 85 pages—of Jack Smith filing on Trump’s private criminal efforts to stay in power despite knowing that he’d lost the election. The evidence is stunning. It’s clear why Trump did not want the public to see this testimony. 13 things jumped out to me on Trump’s attempt to defraud the American people and steal the 2020 election.

@Friedemann_A @FutureFriendsVG Wow, congratulations! 🥳 All on Steam alone? I’m surprised that the number of reviews Summerhouse has doesn’t reflect the old rule of 30-70 sales per review. Perhaps this rule is outdated or did you have a very recent and extremely successful boost?

As of today SUMMERHOUSE has sold over 250k copies 🤯 That’s an insane number, especially given how tiny this project is. Thank you so much to everyone who played it and supported me 😭🙏 Big shoutout to the lovely folks at @FutureFriendsVG for being a dream to work with 💛

Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed on the roof of the White House in 1979. They were removed in 1986 during Ronald Reagan’s administration and were never reinstalled.

Seems collectively we’ve found the perfect UI design for social media apps. It’s so perfect that I can’t even tell which app I’m using to post this because they all use the same perfect solution. #uidesign #appdesign #microblogging #soulless

At the end of the day, knowing my real work time vs. screen time makes it easier to step away from unfinished tasks—ones I’ll likely solve much faster when I’m fully rested the next day.

Tried the Pomodoro technique ⏲️🍅 but find it interrupts your workflow? Here’s what works for me: Start an endless timer and track every 15 minutes. Worked for 65 minutes? You’ve earned 2 Pomodoros. Feeling frustrated at 40 minutes? Push through for 5 more to reach 45!

@PeterBowdenLive @bilawalsidhu Are you overlooking the fact that people don't become actors solely to produce movies, but for the process of acting itself? Many love the craft, which generates unforgettable moments that could never be conceived in a script alone nor through an AI puppetmaster tool.

@bilawalsidhu I know actors are worried about this. I tell my actor friends, imagine gathering a small team around you and together you can produce full feature length movies. You might not be an actor in a movie, but you get to make whatever you want. "Oh. Really? Like, full creativity?"

Classical 3D rendering is so cooked. In the future, every pixel will be generated, not rendered. But until then, you get generative AI nodes inside Nuke. The sky's the limit when you blend classical visual effects with generative ai. We’re on the brink of fully generative content—where creation becomes so abstracted that you can literally turn your mind inside out onto any canvas, from image to video to 3D. For now though, you get predictable curves and animation in the world’s greatest VFX tool — Nuke.

X must have downgraded my visibility quite a bit here. On Mastodon and Bluesky a post of mine got dozens of likes and retweets, while here it got none. No surprise really but annoying as I also rarely see posts by people I care about here #X #twitter #algorithms #Censorship
