Even I forget how bad they were when they first came in. This is Dolly just six weeks ago, her skin looking like that, surviving on the streets, eating out of rubbish bins. It's lovely to see her feel safe again.

Little dolly Parton was abandoned on the streets and close to death six weeks ago. Just look at the little pep in her step now. She's doing us proud. What an amazing little dog she is. ❤️

Today’s moment of calm There are nests all over the farm at the moment. One has a collared dove sitting tight on it. Every day I walk up to it just to check she’s survived another windy night.

Owner yells at stray dogs through the microphone for sneaking into his car wash for a shower. What looked like complete chaos at first turned out to be something much kinder. A group of stray dogs had apparently made a habit of wandering into a drive-thru car wash whenever they got the chance, almost as if they had decided the place offered free baths. They would run in together, getting sprayed and making a mess of the whole area in the process. But the real problem was not just the dogs showing up. According to the owner, they would sometimes leave the place filthy, pooping and peeing around the wash and turning the whole thing into even more work for him. So whenever he spotted them, he would grab the microphone and start yelling at them to get out, sounding like he was completely fed up with the whole situation. Then came the part nobody expected. After chasing them off, he would often go back and leave food for them anyway. He said this had become part of his routine, keeping the dogs fed, letting them clean off a little, and giving himself something to do, even if it meant extra work every single day. And once the dogs were gone, he would head back in and clean up the mess himself. What looked like frustration and disorder from the outside was actually something much softer underneath. Beneath all the yelling, the owner had quietly turned a daily headache into an act of care, making sure the dogs stayed a little cleaner, a little fuller, and a little more looked after than before.

Starving rescue dog was too scared to eat so this fabulous vet say with it and ate his meal from a dog bowl to teach the dog to do the same

Look at this beautiful beef bone-in round roast I pulled out of the freezer. 🥩 This one has a story. It came from a cow I actually knew. His name was either Bert or Ernie. They were raised by friends of ours, grass-fed, well cared for, and living a good, slow life. 🐮 There’s something about that connection that changes everything. It’s not just meat in a package. It’s food with a story, and a lot of respect behind it. I’m planning to give it a good sear on the barbecue first, then slow cook it in my Dutch oven with potatoes, onions, carrots, a little broth, salt, pepper, garlic, and fresh rosemary from the bush that’s blooming right now. Simple, cozy, and the kind of meal that makes the whole house smell like home all afternoon. And since we’ve apparently made some new friends over in Japan this week (still can’t believe that tulip post took off like that 😅)… If you were cooking a cut like this, how would you do it? I’d love to hear your take.💛

A story of family!! Last week, my wife and I went to the rescue, planning to adopt just one puppy. But then we saw them, two tiny pups, huddled together in a corner, their eyes filled with fear and loneliness. Their mother had just passed away, and now they only had each other to rely on. At first, we chose one. But when we turned to leave, the sight of them clinging to each other, trembling as if they knew they were about to be separated, broke our hearts. How could we let them suffer like that? We looked at each other. No words were needed. We couldn’t tear them apart. So, we brought them both home. On the drive back, they curled up together in the backseat, calm, warm, and safe, as if they knew they would never be alone again. We thought we were giving them a home. But the truth is, they gave us a family. The sound of their paws, the little gestures of care, and the looks filled with love... they filled our home with warmth and joy, something we never expected to find in a place like this. Love doesn’t always come from grand gestures; sometimes, it’s found in the smallest moments, like a gentle touch, a loving gaze. Family isn’t always about blood; sometimes, it’s about the beings you choose to love. And sometimes, it’s in those fleeting moments that we find the most precious thing of all, a real family.
