The House voting on Permanent Daylight Saving Time next week has me thinking My body doesn’t follow the clock. It follows the light. I live in Oregon. Summer isn’t the problem. Winter is. By the time we get those gray Pacific Northwest days where the sun barely shows up, waking up in the dark and watching it get dark again around 5:00 is the hardest part for me. I think that’s why the clock changes always throw off my sleep and circadian rhythm more than the actual time on the clock. I’ve read about the Sunshine Protection Act, Permanent Daylight Saving Time, and the push for Standard Time Honestly, I still don’t know which one is the better answer. I just know I’d love another hour of daylight in the evening during the middle of winter. Oregon voted years ago to stop changing the clocks and then nothing happened. It makes me wonder if this is one of those issues where different parts of the country really do need different solutions. Someone living in Florida probably experiences this very differently than someone living in the Pacific Northwest. Does your body follow the clock or does it follow the light?

@DallasDHom I’m so glad you were able to alert the family and help get them to care that they need. It’s going to be a hard road for all of them.

I just saw again somebody I knew from 7 years ago. This time though, they showed all the classic symptoms of schizophrenia. When I was young, my mom had the mental disorder. Back then, I did not know how to handle the situation. This time though, I called his family members for help. And all I can do now, is be supportive and helpful to them as they handle the situation. It’ll be a long road most likely, and they’ll likely need strong professional help. Bottom line: Take care of yourself, so you can help others, as best we can.

X Money just made me realize my “free” checking account may have quietly cost me almost $300. I’ve banked with the same major national bank for about 30 years. My checking account was free. At some point, apparently, it wasn’t anymore. The fee is more than $7 a month, and now that I’m looking back, I think this may have been going on for around three years. That’s almost $300. And I missed it because my other accounts show the monthly fee and then credit it back when it’s waived. So my brain was used to seeing the charge and moving on. Except apparently, on this account, the credit stopped coming. So today I finally clicked to see what I needed to do to make my 30-year-old checking account free again. Their answer? Open a credit card. Open a line of credit. Take out an auto loan. Oh. So after 30 years of banking with you, holding multiple personal and business accounts with you, and running who knows how much money through your bank… I need to go into debt with you to earn free checking? Yeah. No. Meanwhile, X Money is offering me 6% APY to keep my money there and 3% cash back when I spend it. One company is charging me to hold my money unless I borrow from them. The other is literally paying me to stay. And suddenly I’m not wondering how to get my checking fee waived anymore. I’m wondering why I still have the checking account. If X Money offered joint accounts and business accounts, I’d seriously be looking at moving the whole relationship. And that actually makes me a little sad. The people at my local bank know us. They’re sweet. We’ve been there for decades. But loyalty apparently doesn’t waive the fee. Debt does. Now I have a different question for the bank: How long have you been charging me, and can I have my money back? 👀😅

@MarsHomestead I ONLY see mutuals. Unless I have notifications on, if they don't follow me, I don't see them. I have concerns. I like seeing the mutuals but I also want more than that in my for you.

Apparently the X algorithm said “thank u, next” to whatever was or wasn’t working for X creators two weeks ago. 😂 So while we all try to figure out the latest algorithm change, I decided to do something radical. Make an actual creative X video with the new custom X captions. (I really hope they will add the auto cut captions, it cuts off seconds automatically and keeps the video more engaging). I keep seeing my friends celebrating that their mutuals are finally showing up in their For You feed again, and I am too.🎉 But if my mutuals are going to see more of me again, I want to give them something worth stopping for. So here you go. My latest X Shop unboxing. And somehow this one little package made me realize just how many pieces of the everything app are starting to connect. I earned money from my X payout. The money went into X Money. I used my X Money card to make my first purchase from X Shop. I earned 3% cash back on the purchase. Then I made an original X video about what I bought and posted it back on X. Okay, Elon. I see what you’re doing here. 😂 And yes, I bought the mug. Of course I bought the mug. I am a homesteading woman with an unreasonable appreciation for a good coffee mug. This was always going to happen. I also bought the socks featuring Elon Musk’s companies, and I have to give the merchandise team credit. The quality and packaging feel every bit as good as the Tesla and SpaceX merch we already own. This is the kind of creator ecosystem I actually want to participate in. I don’t want to steal someone else’s viral video and repost it 47 times. I want to make things. I want to share my homestead. I want to make videos. I want to have interesting conversations. I want to meet new people outside my little corner of X. And yes, I’d like the original content I spend time creating to actually be seen. Maybe the algorithm changed again. Maybe the old strategy gets a thank u, next. Maybe the next chapter is more mutuals, original content, X video, and creators actually making things worth stopping for. I can work with that. Especially if X keeps paying me to buy coffee mugs. 😂

And the X video captions disappeared @allegrajacchia I was working on my post, uploaded the video, added captions, had to save the post (interrupted by kids). Came back to the draft, wrote the text and hit post. X Captions didn’t save in the draft. Is that normal? Can it be fixed?

@monjas99 Yes it is really good. It’s averaged/ amortized over 12 months so it’s not just simple interest, but it beats anything else I’ve seen.

@MarsHomestead I'm very interested in the interest rate that X money offers. I currently use Ally for savings. They're somewhere in the 3-4%, which is very good. But 6% is crazy good!

@ASSEENONAI Maybe 7 days. I ordered the X mug directly from the X Ad for X Shop in my X feed with Apple Pay attached to my X Money card. They did the rest and it just shipped to my address on Apple Pay. My brain hurts 😅

@MarsHomestead My local credit union started doing that unless I use my debit card (which I don't use) at least once per month. So I scheduled a monthly $5 debit to my church. 🙄

@TeslaTakesOver Willie wanted loves from me this morning. That was a first, normally he’s just a spaz and I ignore bad behavior. He learned that good calm boys get ear scratches.

A Labrador Retriever and a Golden Retriever getting the morning wiggles out before breakfast. 🐾 Meet Willie the Lab and Hank the Golden Retriever. And yes, they’re named after the country singers. 😂 We’re house-sitting for these two handsome boys while their parents are out of town, and Willie has spent the week personally inspecting every inch of the newly finished fence for weaknesses. So far, the fence has failed several inspections. 😂 Every day Empress finds another spot Willie has figured out how to escape through and patches it up. Hank, meanwhile, is a perfect Golden Retriever who stays exactly where he is supposed to. Thankfully, Willie never wants to leave his best friend for long. This morning, though, everyone was where they belonged, running around the property, playing together and getting the wiggles out before breakfast. Right after I stopped filming, I’m pretty sure they started fighting over one of the apples falling from the trees. 🍎😂 Just two happy dogs having the best morning.

@thereal_SnS Wait, you can go down to the water? Enjoy! It’s going to be warm down here in the valley, hopefully it will be cooler in the mountains.

Headed to Crater Lake today. Unfortunately, I can’t go down to the water because there’s a major restoration project going on, but I can still enjoy the park, and admire the lake from a distance.
