If you are going to #ICRA2025 and are interested in automatic robotic generation + EC + intrinsic motivations please have a look at our paper "Efficient and Diverse Generative Robot Designs using Evolution and Intrinsic Motivation". Léni Le Goff will be there presenting our work

I never thought a computer scientist could win the Nobel Prize. Our cap is not the Turing Award then. Amazing! This opens so many options... well... Anyways, congrats to Hinton and Hopfield #NobelPrize

@kanair I agree with the 3 main points of your paper. We haven't faced the ghost in the machine, so grounding consciousness to physical realisation is required. However, why should it be a similar implementation to a brain? Consciousness could exist in different hardware/functions.

I feel there is a potential that current AI research has impact on consciousness research, but to make it happen, we need deep understanding of both fields. This paper might be a good starting point for AI researchers interested in consciousness. arxiv.org/abs/2308.08708

We often talk about consciousness in AI, but we need a universal theory to make a meaningful discussion on this topic. Otherwise, we keep seeing a lot of random/naive opinions on AI consciousness even from experts. Toward a universal theory of consciousness academic.oup.com/nc/article/202…

Yes, one day we'll have general artificial intelligence, I don't see any physical limits that would prevent that. And yes, one day the futurist will be right that AGI will arrive in less than ten years. In the meantime, we continue doing the job and decline making such prediction

Fun game. Clocking 17973 citations: "Distilling the knowledge in a neural network" @geoffreyhinton, @OriolVinyalsML, @JeffDean Reviewer 38 (NeurIPS 2014): "This work is incremental and unlikely to have much impact even though it may be technically correct and well executed."
Yann LeCun@ylecun

My most-cited, never-accepted, ArXiv-only paper has over 1880 citations. "Deep Convolutional Networks on Graph-Structured Data" Mikael Henaff, Joan Bruna, Yann LeCun arxiv.org/abs/1506.05163

@artificialsimon @EdinburghNapier the mission planning of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. While my work has primarily involved simulation, I am particularly eager to apply my expertise to real-world scenarios, working hands-on with robots to gain a deeper understanding of their functionality. Thank you for your time.

For the third year in a row we won a best paper award at @GeccoConf!🎉🎊🥳 Beyond this, I am very proud of the great presentations that my students did during the conf. I received a lot of compliments for the quality of their work. That’s the best reward for a supervisor!🤗
Antoine Cully@CULLYAntoine

Hi all! If you are at @GeccoConf, we are presenting several papers from my lab. Most importantly, we presented DCG-MAP-Elites, a best paper nominee! So if you liked @maxencefaldor presentation yesterday, consider voting for his paper!🗳️

@ylecun At #icra2023 we had Sofia telling school children that she's a new species and is here to make friends... nobody at the panel batted an eye.

Ever wondered how far we can push the dynamic capabilities of robots? Here’s a snippet of some ongoing stuff @NathanAmar10 and I are working on!
Nathan Amar@NathanAmar10

Excited to share a project I’ve been working on with @bryanlimwt and @CULLYAntoine. We push the boundaries of what Reinforcement Learning can do for legged robots by achieving dynamic three legged locomotion 🤖🐕. More coming soon! 🚀 Extended Video: youtube.com/watch?v=xb2gOo…
