Samsung officially confirmed the new form factor for the foldable!!
Key highlights in the teaser:
• Compact digital camera → hints at a point and shoot inspired design.
• A cassette player → retro aesthetics, pocketable size.
• A small notebook → compact enough to carry anywhere.
• A photo card → likely a cover display optimized for quick interactions.
I am curious about how practical it’s going to be in real life.
What are your thoughts regarding this?

@SamsungMobile The beautiful, wider, Fold8! Can't wait to lay my hands on that beauty! Too bad I cannot reserve it in Greece as US buyers do... (sigh!)

@artocube Ready for a sweet new shape? 🍫

@MajinBuofficia IPhone Ultra. Then...Ultra again. So you don't miss the....Ultraness of it.
Lame use of AI? Or an amateur graphic designer?
You choose.

@UniverseIce Annoying, useless, confusing, battery-drainer. A hundred times NO.
English

@UniverseIce One of the ugliest, unnecessary things I've ever seen.
English

@DDDorresteijn @UniverseIce You are absolutely right. I don’t know whether internal regulations (within and between subsidiaries) could establish a better price between them. I know, we are asking for a lot. (sigh!)
English

@artocube @UniverseIce The Korean government wouldn't allow such a big company. Google Alphabet has the same problem.

Korean analysts predict that in the second quarter of 2026, Samsung’s semiconductor division effectively dragged its own mobile business into losses.
After accounting for performance bonuses, Samsung’s semiconductor division still posted an operating profit of about 90.2 trillion won, roughly 62.5 billion USD, about 19 times higher than the same period last year and 1.7 times higher than the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the MX division, which includes Samsung’s smartphone business, recorded an operating loss of about 1 trillion won, roughly 740 million USD.
English

@DDDorresteijn @UniverseIce That is the problem. If Samsung viewed its subsidiaries as ONE company, it would sell chips to MX at competitive prices, without fearing other companies demanding the same treatment: MX would still be Samsung. Unfortunately its stance will lead to irreversible problems
English

@UniverseIce Yes, very bad. But completely normal. There's no way for Samsung Semiconductor to sell chips for a much lower price to MX.
If so, other clients of Samsung Semiconductor will ask the same.
In the end Samsung MX is just a client.

@Bhuvan_RJ46 As surprising as it may seem, Google. All others lead to that annoying wobble. Hope they learn from Google on this matter.

@octainebg @Phonenurd Enterprise Edition just offers longer software/security support, Samsung Knox Suite (device management, remote control, update control), and extended warranty/service options for corporate deployment. Nothing essential for a everyday user.
English

@Phonenurd If they do this, I'll just keep my Fold8 savings for next year's series! 😅

Huge if true: Samsung is reportedly killing off the classic Z Fold design after the Z Fold 8. 🤯
Rumors suggest the Z Fold 8 will be Samsung’s last classic book-style foldable. With Apple’s wide-folding iPhone looming, the entire market is shifting to a wider form factor.
Supposedly, Samsung's current wide-fold is just a temporary bridge. The long-term plan? Merge the Z Fold 9 and Z fold wide into a single, ultra-wide device featuring a true flagship triple-camera system.
