Exciting news for those interested in global philosophy and Indian intellectual history: The Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy (SAAP) has officially established the Bhimrao Ambedkar Prize in Global Pragmatism. This is significant because it reflects growing recognition of B.R. Ambedkar not just as a social reformer and architect of the Indian Constitution, but as a serious philosophical thinker whose ideas—shaped in part by his engagement with John Dewey's pragmatism—contribute meaningfully to broader pragmatist traditions. The prize highlights the internationalization of American philosophy and the expanding scholarly interest in non-Western voices within pragmatism. A press release detailing the award has been issued by SAAP.

Interesting: I see a number of netizens are ‘happy’ that US-Iran talks have not resulted in a breakthrough. I don’t know what’s to be happy about: Is it vicarious pleasure because talks were being held in Islamabad? Isn’t in our national interest to have an early end to the conflict? Talks can be held in Timbuktu or anywhere, surely ending the war matters than who is hosting the dialogue, no? THINK!🙏

@smitaprakash As I said, convenors should have been there. Blame is on them, not on you. Attendance at such seminars & guest lectures are voluntary, so students should be spared (besides, some genuine students are there), especially if the event is on a Saturday. My remarks are in this context

Students attend what they like & what they not like. Recently, when I gave the lecture at a Delhi University college. It is wrong to blame them. But convenors should have been there. Better to have 5 students as genuine attendance than 50 who are forced to the room.

#दिल्ली_विश्वविद्यालय के प्रतिष्ठित #मिरांडा_कालेज ने ‘वो आवाजे जो प्रेरणा देती हैं’ (voices that inspire) कार्यक्रम में विख्यात पत्रकार स्मिता प्रकाश को विशेष अतिथि आमन्त्रित किया था। समय पर पहुँचने के बाद भी वहाँ न आमंत्रित करने वाले मिले और न ही सुनने वाले। इस घटना का वीडियो उन्होंने शेयर किया है,GenZ की इस उदासीनता (apathy) का विश्लेषण होना चाहिए जो प्रेरित करने वाले व्यक्तित्व को बुलाती तो है लेकिन उनके प्रति सामान्य व्यवहार भी नहीं दिखाती।
