One GT Anywhere parent..."My kids are mastering material 3 times faster than their peers. The platform is gifting them years of childhood back." Free, from home, covered by TEFA. Great time to be the parent of a bright 3rd–8th grader.
Austen Allred@Austen

I moved to Austin in part so that my kids could go to Alpha School (despite tuition being $40k/year/kid). Now kids in Texas get the exact same academics for free, even from home, with GT School Anywhere.

@rhettjoneslore @jliemandt Rhett, I run GT and spent years on a similar path, starting with malaria programs in Africa. DM me if you want to brainstorm plans!

Yesterday I was honored to witness the ribbon cutting for GT School's new Competition Lab - basically the container for the future of competitive academics at GT School. Students earn the privilege of participating in Competition Lab by meeting their daily XP goals on Timeback and staying up to speed on their standard afternoon workshops. We will provision eligible students with time, materials, and support to achieve new heights in their specialties: math, robotics/engineering, creative writing, quiz bowl, etc. But we can't do it for them, and we won't let them coast. Competition Lab's GM, guide Matt Starolis, challenged our kids to formally sign the Competition Lab pledge and initiate their responsibilities as members. That's my daughter, Claudia (age 10), accepting. She heads to quiz bowl nationals in Chicago in May, and she meets her new writing coach on Thursday.

In a few years we’re going to realise how we’ve been dramatically underestimating what kids and teens are capable of, and how much our education system has been holding them back
liemandt@jliemandt

@ByrneHobart Prediction: Within a couple of years, your child will be learning from an app built by an Alpha School student. Related: SaaS market is doomed. I’m watching my $100m+ investment in Timeback be disrupted by the students.

I started my first job in a decade. Last fall, @CameronSorsby reached out to ask if I could do a workshop at @AlphaSchoolATX on vibe coding. I had a blast, and was blown away by how sharp and entrepreneurial the students were. Cameron and I kept talking, discussing his plans to expand Alpha’s entrepreneurial and AI education, and the more we talked the more I realized I had to be a part of it. This week I officially joined as the “Head of Founder Development.” I’m working on expanding the high school’s AI and entrepreneurship curriculum, along with a much bigger project for the Fall I’ll be able to share soon. With young kids of my own and my deep frustration with the education system, @jliemandt and Alpha’s mission is one I’m extremely passionate about and thrilled to be a part of. If anyone is going to fix education, it’s us. Can’t wait to share more on what we’re building.

My third grade son is in a gifted class but still finishes early every week. Now, when he finishes he goes on Mart Academy and he’s halfway done with 4th grade math in around two weeks. If your child is at public school you can still absolutely ask that the teacher have them use Math Academy if they finish early.
Justin Skycak@justinskycak

There is no reason why a grade level's worth of learning has to take a year. Kids can master the material so much faster, and climb so much higher, if you give them individualized instruction up the skill tree and avoid wasting their time.

All of us at @gtschool are so proud of Everest!

From an anonymous Substack review to the floor of the U.S. Capitol in a matter of months. @Ednever wrote the viral Alpha School review. His 10-year-old daughter Everest - three-time Texas state history champion and TEDx speaker - will be the First Lady's guest at tonight's State of the Union. This is what happens when Alpha School founding families go all-in on transforming education. 🔥

Hey Ben, I’m dabbled around on your site several times and I end up just kind of getting lost with all the options. Is there a curated curriculum that y’all suggest or recommend or it’s just totally ad hoc and whatever they do or don’t want to do is game? We homeschool now are heavily considering GT anywhere from Alpha, and really curious.

I'm going to publish our standardized test results soon Pretty excited about it. We will compare our results Head to Head against Alpha School's. The AI labs are hotly competing on benchmarks, and I can't wait to bring this energy to Education.

@Autonomic443 @Austen Not for testing, but we have (optional, but highly encouraged) weekend intensives in Georgetown to go deeper in the sciences and humanities! And only limit is the number of bright, motivated kids!

@arvindnaga @Austen Thank you for the response. I do have a couple of questions. With remote schooling, will we ever have to go to a physical location for any kind of testing? Will you be limiting the total number of students enrolled in the online school?

By the way if you have kids in Texas they can enroll in the remote version of what is described in this post (GT School Anywhere) for free with the new TEFA vouchers. Academic outcomes that crush any private school. For free. Luckiest kids in the world. anywhere.gt.school

@arvindnaga I wish GT Anywhere had the option to enroll for "Pre-K". My "Pre-K" son is in 2nd-grade math and reading.

A lot of folks in this situation signing up for GT Anywhere just for the acceleration and the community. They know school is holding their kid back, but not looking for virtual. (Well come to you with physical campuses soon enough!)
kikicarmine@kikicarmike

@Austen Are there products for tutoring? My son loves his school but I’m afraid the academics are lacking.
