Being an entrepreneur isn't everything it's hyped up to be 6 months ago I quit my leadership position in tech to pursue being an entrepreneur/content creator on X full time It’s always been my dream to work for myself and build something of my own What I didn’t expect was the mental pain and anguish that come with sacrificing comfort and a steady check for freedom My problem was I went into running this account and my business with the completely wrong mindset. For the past 6 months I’ve had this small layer of anxiety draped over my shoulders that comes from a constant pressure on yourself A pressure to do a little more A pressure to get just a few more tasks done every day A pressure that’s constantly whispering to you “you’re screwing up you lazy f***” no matter how productive I was And that led to my boundaries disappearing. My weekends disappeared. My nights disappeared. I traded a 9-5 on the weekdays for a midnight to midnight 7 days a week And because of all of that, this dream I had of being a business owner hasn’t exactly felt like a dream All of this stems from 2 things, never practicing gratitude and having no idea how to set boundaries. While I’m living a life I would have been ecstatic about if you told me it was coming a year ago, it doesn’t feel quite as fun because I only think about what’s missing What I could be doing, not that I’ve done It’s led to a lot of pressure, stress, and relationships suffering. I’m working to reverse these mistakes I’m working to fix my mindset and get in a place where my brain can be way more grateful for what I have and not constantly thinking about what I don't It’s typically in this part of my super long posts I give you a nicely organized bullet point list of lessons learned. I don’t have that for you here. I just have a laundry list of mistakes. I’m just a man that’s a work in progress sharing with you where I’ve f***** up the last 6 months as a new entrepreneur Hopefully that’s just as valuable as giving you lessons learned. Before you take big risks, learn from what I did. Work on your mindset first It’s really hard to help others if you haven’t helped yourself
