I hated the ICICI NRO/NRE banking experience so much that I closed my account today. I already knew Indian banking isn’t great, but I assumed a top bank like ICICI would be manageable. I was wrong. The experience was terrible. I don’t understand how people regularly use these accounts. - The app fails to work most of the time. - ICICI representatives sometimes call me in the middle of the night just to check if everything's okay. - They ask me to redo KYC every year. That’s fine, but the process is outdated. I had to download forms, fill them manually, sign with ink, print documents, and attest everything. It feels like 2015. - I get account closure warnings every six months if I don’t use it. This might make sense for regular accounts, but not for NRE accounts. I live in the US and don’t use it often. These limits shouldn’t apply as long as there’s sufficient balance. To keep it active, I had to make a ₹1 transaction. Since the app doesn’t work, I had to log in through the website. - Until recently, they didn’t allow password manager autofill. I had to manually type a 14-character random password every time. There are many more issues I’m probably forgetting. Overall, a very frustrating experience. If you had good experience with any others Indian banks with NRE/NRO accounts please let me know.

@Kenu73 @pravinnm People will just protect a reason without knowing. Most of the people who are opposing your opinion have not driven in other countries. They have no idea about what you want to say. They will just say something because they want to oppose.

I don't take many road trips in India, infact my traveling in India has been minimal compared to my overall travels. But whenever I do, I just can't stop thinking how no one values there life in this country, vo kehte h na sab gazar muli jaise rehte h and marte h. Bilkul sahi kehte h. So many, so many folks risk there life on the highways and express ways. Wrong side driving, slow moving cars on fast/overtaking lane. Bikers crossing the roads without thinking right of way. Its insane. Can't wait to get detoxed from this stupidity!

@virtualvaibhav @KshatriyaItihas well said. It is shame how a beautiful city founded by Sawai Jai Singh II has been turned into a city full of noise, traffic, filth all around. The political will is needed to make things better.

@KshatriyaItihas But imagine what we have made of it? Dirty, chaotic, unhygienic, unsafe to walk, noisy, polluted etc etc. I believe there should be a central agency to manage, operate and safeguard this kind of heritage in India. Atleast NDMC does a good work in Lutyens, Jaipur is another story.

@ansujeet @sabeer The systems are built for smooth functioning. Unfortunately, these systems are like "rituals" and they are counter productive. We need to have rational systems. So many systems have changed with technology. Why can't we bring in more changes?

The apostille exists because countries agreed to trust each other’s notarization. The “sign every page anyway” instruction exists because the person processing it has personally been held accountable for a missing signature before and is not taking that risk again. The paranoia isn’t the system’s design. It’s the accumulated scar tissue of a bureaucracy where accountability runs downward but protection doesn’t.

India is suffocating under the weight of bureaucracy. I signed “Power of Attorney” papers exactly where required, got them notarized and apostilled - only to have them sent back asking for signatures on every single page. This isn’t process, it’s paranoia. A system built on mistrust turns even simple transactions into endless loops.

@sabeer Are you happy with this system? If no one will raise an issue, things will never change. It is not necessary to raise an objection based on "intent". Look at it in an objective way. @sabeer is right. The "system" thrives on "adherence" rather than using a logic and reasoning.

Tip number 1: Most colors sold by street vendors contain harsh chemicals that can irritate or damage the skin, so anyone with sensitive skin should think twice before diving into playing Holi especially with strangers. #holifestival
