This training reinforced the importance of context-specific solutions in advancing sustainable agriculture and supporting resilient farming systems in Egypt.

Through presentations and interactive sessions, participants explored how these practices can enhance soil fertility, optimize water use, and improve farm productivity under changing climatic conditions.

The @WatDev1 project successfully conducted a two-day training and dissemination event on Best Management Practices (BMPs) on 29–30 March 2026 at SEKEM Farm in Belbies, Egypt.

The project is building local capacity, promoting climate-smart water management, and supporting farmers in adopting practical solutions to address pressing environmental challenges.

The @WatDev1 project is funded by the European Union under the DeSIRA Initiative, which continues to support efforts aimed at strengthening climate resilience and sustainable agricultural development across East Africa.

The successful implementation of the @WatDev1 Best Management Practices (BMPs) training in Tana River County, Kenya, was made possible through strong collaboration and partnership.

The farmer group, explored key BMPs such as agroforestry, crop rotation, intercropping of trees and crops, use of improved seeds, effective manuring techniques, and efficient irrigation practices.

Participants were introduced to the #WATDEV project’s objectives, methods, and expected results, with contributions from, Dr. Gaetano Ladisa, Project Administrative Lead, Mr. Moses Odeke, WATDEV project Coordinator, ASARECA, and Officials from @kalromkulima.
