Fabulous day working with our @BCUHB PROMPT colleagues to provide the first tri-BCUHB ED site EM Emergency Obstetrics day. Thanks to all staff and faculty for making it such a success #MDTlearning #BCUHB #GogleddCymru #EmergencyMedicine

@jackbardwell99 I always advise folk, never judge a specialty on the best bits of the job, as by their nature, everyone loves the best bits. Ask yourself what are the worst bits of the specialty, as when everything is stripped back, that is what you are left with
English

@jackbardwell99 Loads of people switch from ED to Anaesthetics…….have never heard of anyone going the other way

Thanks again for a great evening @TheO2 London.
See you tonight in Birmingham, then onto Glasgow, Leeds, MANCHESTER & Nottingham.
Final tickets at elbow.co.uk

@TheCoopLive any idea what’s happening with @Elbow next Tuesday 14th May? Not heard anything, and we’re (@shelleycheff81) understandably nervous 😬 🤞🏾🙏🏾

Elevated lactate keeps getting misdiagnosed as 'sepsis' or 'ischaemic gut'
Even by smart people in fancy places
So I'm reposting this video so the resus nurses & residents & medical students can help their senior colleagues think beyond these two causes

This is abhorrent. Does it go on in other specialties I wonder? I’d like to think it doesn’t in my own, but I dread to think what the real truth is… bbc.co.uk/news/health-66…

At @rcollem we are looking for a new USS chair. Come on you POCUS folks, we know you want to lead POCUS in EM for the next few years :-)

Thanks @NewtonFaulkner for an amazing opening tour gig @the_liverooms. There with @shelleycheff81. Amazing night! Could tell you loved it, too. Love you back ❤️ Glad to see you touring again! It’s where you belong 😁

@Nuzzzzie @Matsukaze1310 Just also be careful, that if he’s as creepy & unprofessional as he’s behaving, he’ll try to do anything to discredit you in the process, find ways to suggest this is “misinterpretation”, or you being inappropriate with him, esp. if there usually no witnesses
English

@Nuzzzzie @Matsukaze1310 This is awful, and needs addressing immediately. Who knows who else this creep is doing this to. Agree with all comments, and so sorry to hear you’re going through this. Keep all evidence. Consider escalating to ES, FPD, DME, MD, HR, BMA

It’s that time of year when a lot of doctors will be asking for help.
Some may be good at it, some may not… both have a patient that needs your input.
Let’s not penalise patients and negatively influence staff by being unhelpful, just to prove a point.

@TessaRDavis ...they just make you worse...😂 - sorry, I’ll get my coat. Seriously, though, salbutamol in bronchiolitis is a massive bugbear of mine
English

The #respsurge is coming. We now have brand new bronchiolitis guidance from NICE.
Key change is that we can tolerate lower sats than previously in those who have no other risk factors, and are 6 weeks of age or more

@cruncherwax @davehartin @COSMakin Could agree more, David. The bigger issue here, I think, is other healthcare professionals who decide to send patients to ED, without thinking is there a more suitable alternative
English

When the NHS is collapsing* around your ears and you can't do the basics properly for the sickest of patients, Emergency Medicine can't be expected to be the safety net if you think your GP might be "acting slow".

@WisniackiFiona @michaelahn94 @2019annhill Too right. Incivility has no place in the workplace @civilitysaves @orangedis #civilitysaveslives #bekind. Question is, is this because the individuals in question are under pressure themselves, or are role modelling other witnessed bad behaviour? 🤔
English

@michaelahn94 @2019annhill Interprofessional standards have deteriorated unfortunately over the years. It’s disgusting the way juniors will retort back to us ED Consultants when referring appropriate patients. I usually smile, introduce myself and politely ask them how they are! #polite #values
