Harrison Ford returned as Indiana Jones after a 15 year break. If nostalgia alone could have brought you success, that film wouldn't have flopped as bad as it did. What Marvel did with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Jackman or are going to do with Chris Evans in Doomsday is not just nostalgia bait.
Nostalgia without proper compelling story will still fail. Yes they're weaponizing nostalgia (because nothing else is working at the moment) but that doesn't mean they're ruining their character arcs. Nobody watched Deadpool & Wolverine and thought “they ruined Logan". So have faith that if they're bringing Chris Evans back, they will make sure its for a good reason.
