it's so cool how they don't let me just outright pay the bill with a credit card so I have to pay the extra fee for a debt transfer instead. Nice to see wells fargo looking out for capital one's bottom line, the little guys gotta stick together

@Jeremybtc Someone opened an account in my name without my consent then sent me the card. I withdrew their money. Wells Fargo it was like $900 in my name. I even asked them wtf? And the teller told me I could close account and withdraw it. So I did. Had to be some scam I interrupted.

A Wells Fargo executive built a system that committed 3.5 MILLION crimes. She retired with a $125 MILLION compensation package before the federal fines hit. > Wells Fargo was the golden child of American banking > The only major bank to walk away clean from the 2008 financial crisis. Their CEO was on the cover of Fortune magazine as the best banker in America. > Behind that reputation, managers were given daily quotas for how many accounts and credit cards each teller had to open. > Staff were told "eight is great", every customer needed eight Wells Fargo products. Miss your target and you were threatened, fired, or forced to work unpaid overtime. > So employees started opening accounts customers never asked for. Forging signatures. Creating fake email addresses. > They were even moving money from real accounts into ghost ones to make them look active. Real customers started getting charged fees for accounts they never knew existed. > Employees who called the ethics hotline to report what was happening were fired. > The Los Angeles Times broke the story in 2013. By 2016 the full scale was out with 3.5 MILLION fake accounts opened over 8 years. > Wells Fargo paid $185 MILLION, then $1 BILLION, then $3 BILLION in fines. 5,300 employees were fired. > Carrie Tolstedt, the executive who built and ran this entire division, retired before the federal fines hit and walked away with $125 MILLION in compensation. > The bank eventually clawed back $67 MILLION. She kept the rest. In 2023 she settled charges for $17 MILLION. They put the people who followed orders in the street and let the person who wrote the orders keep the money. That is not a scandal. It is just how the system works.

I noticed my checking account at @WellsFargo had 4 unauthorized withdrawals. I filed a claim within 48 hours and was assured I would get my money returned. Now Wells Fargo is refusing to return my money. I filed a police report and now I am switching banks after 40 years. Bummed

Anyway @WellsFargo declined my claim even though this merchant does not exist and there’s no receipts or trace of these transactions in my @Apple pay. I’ll be moving all my personal and business accounts elsewhere.

Homebuilder confidence fell to 34 in April, the lowest in eight months and down four points from March, as economic uncertainty and high interest rates weigh on sentiment, according to the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index. Any reading below 50 signals negative sentiment. The slump comes at the peak of spring selling season, which has been clouded by the Iran conflict, soaring oil prices, and renewed inflation fears. Crypto scams don’t always look like scams. They can feel personal and convincing. Watch for “guaranteed” returns and pressure to use crypto ATMs — once your money’s sent, you may not get it back.
