It feels important to say that a big reason I have chosen recruiting as a first stop on this career journey is because it accomplishes something important to me: being able to give play to those who seek it. I am a lover of technology and even more so a lover of those who seek to play/build/contribute more than themselves. It’s my dream in many ways to find, speak to, and advocate for someone who is pulled towards a big mission. Feeling a deeper sense of gratitude tonight as I’m reflecting on being in such a privileged position like this one.

Just had dinner with @menhguin who I haven’t seen in 5 years and I’ve come to the natural conclusion that no one can beat the autistic founder phenotype.

Another way to put it is tell people exactly what they’re in for. Do not leave an excellent contributor underutilized because you didn’t have the foresight that you needed X, when this person is XYZ and evolving. It’s bad for everyone involved and can burn relationships. Don’t offer the 1st tier players a 3rd tier set of tasks. Whatever you do, don’t do this. Wait until you have work that is as excellent as them to distribute.

Advertising hiring when you 1) have contractors you want to retain that are doing that exact job description 2) don’t have work that will fully utilize said new hire, is a big no no. It shows a lack of conviction in hiring decisions and not taking bets on people.

Wish I could talk about this with someone who wasn’t one of either the world’s top 5000 worst men, or a dozen of the most breathtakingly mentally ill 21-year-old women you’ve ever seen

DoorDash is laying the groundwork for a crazy move here.
Agents will be able to 'hire' humans to do tasks for them in the real world.
And this will collect insane amounts of training data for robotics.
Kind of genius, kind of terrifying.

Introducing Dasher Tasks Dashers can now get paid to do general tasks. We think this will be huge for building the frontier of physical intelligence. Look forward to seeing where this goes!
