And if I do decide to change it, it will be because I want to, not because my ex-husband and his new wife are having feelings. I earned every credential under this name. I built my career under this name. At this point, it belongs to my history too. So respectfully, he can focus on his new marriage and let me handle my name on my own timeline.

So now this man wants me to spend months standing in government offices, filling out forms, updating records, and explaining to every institution I’ve ever dealt with that I’m suddenly a different person. All because he is uncomfortable seeing his last name attached to me. Sir, that sounds like a personal issue.
