Ontario school board announces that this year's graduation ceremonies will be guided by an “anti-oppressive/anti-racist/anti-colonial lens”
Canadians are referred to as “citizens of Turtle Island,” and ceremonies are expected to include the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board's bespoke land acknowledgements.
Staff are asked to recognize that “not all learners/guests in attendance may chose to stand” during the national anthem while ensuring what the memo describes as an “equitable celebration” for each student.

@Martyupnorth I had all of that but I refused to get a cd player for the longest time. I was a vinyl collector and cds were sacrilege.
English

Who else had one of these in the 80s and 90s?
(amplifier, tuner, turn table, tape-to-tape cassette deck, equalizer, CD player, speakers, woofer...)
I used to move so often, that I drew a wiring diagram so I could reconnect everything after unpacking.
I still have a collection of vinyl records in the basement.

English

@Martyupnorth Ive seen them. I love Cadomin. I love seeing the big haul trucks going by every hour lol.

@UsmanKhanTanol7 @mark_slapinski I think the whole Middle East should be turned into a sheet of glass in a hail of nuclear fire. How’s that for views? Turn Mecca into a mirror.
English

@mark_slapinski How do ordinary Canadians view the attack on Iran?
English

@Firedowser1963 @LauraBabcock Won’t happen for years. What will you do till then?
English

@LauraBabcock OMG good, I live in a rural area have a hard time getting internet service and refuse to use Elon’s satellite service. So having a Canadian option is long overdue.
English

@LauraBabcock Not likely. We don’t have enough money for food let alone satellites.
English

@PierrePoilievre Have you seen what the uk Australia and NZ have done to thier citizens? I want no part of that. Ditch the commonwealth.
English

Commonwealth Day reminds us that Canada is part of a family of free nations built on shared liberties and common purpose.
Let’s strengthen those ties by expanding trade, mobility, and partnership with our closest Commonwealth allies like the U.K., Australia and New Zealand in a new CANZUK agreement.

@aminhgn @truth_leah Bomb them to oblivion. All of it. The whole Middle East should be levelled. We are tired of all of it.

This message is for all Canadians ; left wing or right wing, it does not matter.
I am an Iranian-Canadian. I am proud to be Canadian. But I am honestly very upset and concerned about what I am seeing.
For one moment, forget about the Middle East, forget about Israel and Palestine, forget about politics. Just think about this as Canadians.
A protest is being organized in Toronto to mourn and defend the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei. The regime he leads is directly tied to the IRGC, which is designated as a terrorist organization in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Think about this for a second. Imagine if the leader of ISIS was killed and people in Canada organized a protest to mourn him. How would Canadians feel about that?
This is why many Iranian-Canadians are alarmed.
Many of us came to Canada to escape this ideology and this regime. It is an ideology that openly claims it should one day dominate the world and that violence is justified against those who oppose it.
Groups loyal to this regime have been responsible for enormous violence inside Iran. Even by their own official reports, tens of thousands of people have been killed during crackdowns against civilians.
This is no longer about Iran or the Middle East. This is about Canada and the safety of our society.
I do not understand why federal or municipal authorities allow this to happen without serious concern. When people openly gather to glorify or defend extremist regimes, it should raise questions for all of us.
Canadians deserve to know what ideology is being promoted here.
This is not about hate. It is about awareness and protecting the values and safety of Canada.

@yegwave No. It’s Islamic militants running corrupt countries. It’s east vs west. Same as here. But without the bombs.
