@taobanker Smart people aren't very conciliatory. This is the principal difference between AI and man.

But does the capybara sting the armadillo halfway across causing them both to drown

Eu não sabia que a capivara era tão folgada.

@assumptionfeast bcp-157 springs to mind as something that seems to show promise for a variety of ailments but which I haven't yet felt called to test out personally
recently read that it's good for knee problems and was considering recommending it to my dad

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic If i had the choice, I'd re-buy a 1988 and get airbags installed aftermarket.
English

@assumptionfeast @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic Look turbos make me nervous too. But I also remember lots of bad 1990s cars too. I remember how poorly trucks handled, how bad the braking was, how side air bags were optional.

You might have more credibility if you responded to the substance of the argument, rather than make some non-sequitur remark about the choice of photo being of one department involved in calculating GDP rather than another.
Ian Wyatt@IanDWyatt
@palladiummag @pfitzsimmons If you’re going to criticize GDP, you might have more credibility if you had a photo of the right agency. BLS is part of Department of Labor. GDP is calculated by BEA which is part of the Department of Commerce.
English

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic Huh, a goal of my driving education was "if the car had to rescue you by engaging the ABS, you were not driving defensively enough". So i maybe didn't notice bad braking due to driving style? Def believe it's likely to have improved tho
English

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic But bench seats without the dumb aggressive-angle headrests are >>> modern trucks for comfort. I miss them but i am okay giving up some comfort in the name of safety. But it's a clear downgrade in daily life
English

@assumptionfeast @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic Simple question: Is the avg light vehicle, largely trucks and SUVs, much nicer, bigger, handles better, and more comfortable than a 1997 vehicle which were largely sedans? This article just completely ignores these changes and that flaw undermines the whole premise.
English

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic Ime the 1988 truck i grew up with was more comfy than the 1997 truck that replaced it, and both of those were more comfy than my 2022. The '76 e we still have only for hauling around a diesel tank is most comfy of all. But i assume the reduced comfort gives better safety ?
English

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic I do my best to embrace good new things, and avoid bad new things
English

@IanDWyatt @pfitzsimmons @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic Yes, and I'm perhaps missing your point, but when I bought a truck in 2022, i bought one with an aluminum frame (new technology, improved longevity against road salt induced rust!) and a non-turbo motor (old technology, good longevity)
English

@array_hog I feel like I improvise better after I have internalized / gotten into muscle memory the basic patterns. And singing in really well sculpted harmony like shape note will help get that muscle memory so that improv is easier
English

@assumptionfeast But when it comes to improvising harmonies like improvising a partner dance, I feel like that's more about hearing and intuiting notes that fit into a chord rather than sight reading
English

@pfitzsimmons @IanDWyatt @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic This is so well known that farmers, mechanics, etc, will mock salesmen if they show up in (company fleet provided) turbo trucks
English

@pfitzsimmons @IanDWyatt @ChhatwalRaunak @mmjukic I'm a little surprised you hear you say reliability is not knowable. Maybe there's year to year variation, but turbos in general are renowned to be unreliable! Nobody who buys a truck and intends to keep the truck its entire lifespan buys a turbo
English

@CMadd_Hatter5 @rootsofprogress Oh my gosh, I had no idea, and also don't know. I emailed the Center about a week ago but didn't hear back, and called and left a voicemail, but no response there either.
English

@assumptionfeast @rootsofprogress I live nearby, it’s being demoed now.
Do you know if they saved this?
English

Do i know anybody that knows anybody near Chevy Chase MD? I need a photo of this mural that isn't under copyright, for a print publication with @rootsofprogress . I'll give you a copy of the anthology in thanks!
