Mormon Theories
Mormon Theories@mormontheories·
This is from Oliver Cowdery's diary. Entry date 23 January 1836. He mentions a vision of Sidney Rigdon's about the return of the Ten Tribes. 2 things: First: Where can I find an account of this vision? Second: Sidney Rigdon was more of a prophet than Mormonism wants to admit.

The fact that Mountain Meadows also happened on 9/11 doesn't bode well for that date.

I'm calling it right now: Pres. Oaks will get rid of the sealing rule that disallows a living woman to be sealed to two men.

Its a bit silly, but Dune Part 2 gave me this feeling of Messianic Awe that I hadn't ever really understood before. like, "oh this is how people felt listening to Jesus and Joseph". I'd intellectualized it, but hadn't really been aware of it emotionally.

His book "Same-Sex Dynamics" is a great example of this. He is a homosexual and should obviously be motivated to draw conclusions that accord with his lifestyle. He doesn't claim to find any evidence of the early church condoning any sort of same sex relationship

There is one Mormon historian/thinker that I trust above all others, and that is D. Michael Quinn. Even in area's where you would think he has an axe to grind, I've never seen him stretch the evidence.

Like three hours of D. Michael Quinn essentially bearing his testimony about church finances in 2017 is just truly great listening

The problem w/ mormon stories is that even though John Dehlin is kind of an annoying interviewer, he has on some really great guests.

I have been studying President Oaks' talks from the beginning of his apostolic service (slowly—I'm only up through 1989 now) and here are some things I've noticed: 1. He frequently will pick up a theme or idea from an earlier talk and expand on it in a later talk. 1/
