English

Dr. Lewis Sayre treating scoliosis, checking the curvature of the spine, 1870s.
English

@polysophical I wish we got more charts from Fludd in his lifetime.
English

@surskitmaxxing You start out reading obscure American history, and the next thing you know you're learning about magical systems and Renaissance philosophy
English

@polysophical It’s fascinating how a study of Mormonism will connect you to so many diverse ideas across so many civilizations and centuries
English

"Emanuel Swedenborg had a view of the world to come, but for daily food he perished." — Joseph Smith
"Now hear a plain fact: Swedenborg has not written one new truth. Now hear another: he has written all the old falsehoods ... Have now another plain fact: any man of mechanical talents may from the writings of Paracelsus or Jacob Boehme produce ten thousand volumes of equal value with Swedenborg’s ... But when he has done this, let him not say that he knows better than his master, for he only holds a candle in sunshine." — William Blake

English

@polysophical This would have so much aura in Deseret script

@nicholasajoseph One of these two books for his sermons, especially near the end of his life (Nauvoo Period). Doctrine and Covenants (especially sections 76, 88, 93, and 124-132) for his most unique doctrines.

English

@EthicalMormon @brosephsmith420 I think Blake is right that much of Swedenborg's philosophy was derived from Boehme, but Blake also criticizes him for only communing with "too-religious" angels instead of expanding his horizons like Blake (who talks to some rather questionable characters at times)
English

@polysophical @brosephsmith420 I will not take this Swedenborg slander from Blake. Joseph Smith is right tho but it’s why Swedenborg could only prophesize about a new church and not build one. Also Swedenborg’s view on man is very Kabbalahlistc, worth considering
English

@plasmarob @Bar_tolmi He's basically saying Swedenborg copied Boehme's homework and changed a few things
English

@polysophical @Bar_tolmi I have no idea what Blake is going on about in this quote
English

@Bar_tolmi I find them all interesting. Blake originally thought very highly of Swedenborg but later changed his mind. What do you think of Boehme?
English

@polysophical Betteridge's law of headlines: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no."
English

@ClownWorld Palm Beach Pete... that's exactly what Jeff would say
English

@jaredadairbell the edit is amazing but the video comes up weird on the timeline with the vertical aspect ratio I almost scrolled right past it. Make it horizontal and we will make it go viral
English

25 is ok.
27 was the year that messed me up.
28 is much better though.

I don’t wanna be 25
