In the book, when Corlys petitioned Rhaenyra to legitimize Addam and Alyn, it was Jace who persuaded her to do so.
Rhaenyra even bypassed Joffrey and made Addam velaryon, heir to Driftmark.
In the show Jace is already gone, Joffrey is heir to iron throne.
