@FictionIRL short videos focusing on individual concepts is the way I would personally approach this. clear visuals with at least an input display are critical, though that+a handcam is ideal. you don’t need to explain anything in the manual; smash is intuitive, comp melee techniques are not

What do you think is the best way for a series like this to work? How basic is too basic? How many details should I get into? Its really rough to find a balance but I really want to create this so I just want to get people's general thoughts on it if you have any :)

Lately I am really, really determined to finally make a good series for melee fundamentals/basics for beginners. It feels like to get into Melee right now you pretty much need someone to show you the basics, and I would love to fix that. Curious how people feel about it.

@radarssbm @fraserlikelaser Yeah, they have. Views typically trend downward after new uploads (with sporadic spikes months down the line), but the shorts have given the longs a noticeable boost

@asumsaus @fraserlikelaser Has the shorts boosted your views for your regular videos?

if anyone's curious how the shorts have been for the channel, this is the gist of it. my previous all-time most views in a day was about 70K more than the amsa doc's peak, which has been blown out of the water multiple days in a row now lol

@fraserlikelaser 90.6% (3.9 mill) are shorts for the past week, longs are at 411K

@asumsaus what percentage of those recent daily views are on shorts vs your long videos?

i don't plan on regularly uploading shorts after i'm finished with this series, just experimenting and having some fun with vertical.
