@austriker27 A lot will say hang in, but… it is hard. My 2 cents would be: be realistic and call it. Textile is hard. Ecom is hard. Shut things properly, make sales to pay out loans and debt, then shut it down. Learn from and start another business in few months having learn from this one.

I know twitter loves the highlights but here's the opposite. My brand is on the edge of a cliff due to a cash flow pinch 😭 Amex is maxed and overdue, cash on hand is nearly empty, FB ads paused... 🫠 I'll dive into it more later but basically it's gotten squeezed to death by revenue based loans and me not watching numbers close enough. I took one then another then another. And now 30% of my revenue goes to them - on average it's $1,800 a week to them. Also marketing ads haven't been efficient enough. Margins not strong enough. PMF not fit enough. Lots of learnings and I hope to make it out the other side past this weekend. Working on a LOC that could fix the cash flow issues significantly and would be less expensive.

African startups: I totally get that many must rely on prize money or grants to get going. But be careful not to become a grantpreneur, using grants and not customer revenue to sustain your business in the long term.

This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. I’m looking for this very rare breed of people, who I refer to as “builders” (Or entrepreneurs in residence/ intrapreneurs for the fancy people) Basically, I’m looking for 1-2 people who want to come and build companies with me and my team. Some already running and some in conceptualization stage. The job description is pretty simple: You’re the kind of person who could probably build your own company, but you want to build it with experienced operators and build something bigger with others You want to have extreme amounts of responsibility and ownership, and basically be one of the main “builders” of the company. You want to set the path and direction of how the company should be built You want to learn an insane amount, but not entirely on your own. You want to learn on your own but also have support from experienced operators, access to capital, and audience. You already have experience in the eCommerce industry, either as a marketer, agency, brand founder, SAAS, or anything in between. So, you know the ins and outs of eCommerce You are a craftsman within 1-2 specific skills (Creative Strategy, SEO, Ads, Copy, Landing Pages, whatever it may be) but then also a generalist that can solve problems holistically. I don’t fully know how to explain this, but we’ll build around what you’re exceptionally good at, while also requiring you to be “pretty good” in a lot of different things needed to operate a company (Operations, Problem-solving, Financial understanding, etc) In return, you’ll get: - Lots of autonomy to build Lots of learnings, fast Access to capital, audience, and network Lucrative financial incentives Lots of fun along the way, which in entrepreneurship means you’ll get to solve a lot of problems every day I know I’m asking for something that’s pretty hard to find, but I know these people exists. We’ve built companies around them before and we want to do it again. They’re just very hard to come by.
