Watching the US vs DR game reminds me why I play the greatest game there is. Other than hockey (full credit to those guys)… name me another sport that straps it on and says let’s f’n go like this. Pretty damn hard to beat.

I tell players this all the time: You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable. You have to be willing to have short term failure for long term success. What I mean by that is this: Any time you make a change whether it is mechanical, grips, drills, etc. it is going to be uncomfortable at first because you've never done it. You might throw slower, be more wild, or have less feel because it is new. But it doesn't mean it is wrong. That is what I mean by you have to be willing to fail in the short term if it means greater success long term. As a coach it is our job to know what will lead to long term success and to get the player to buy into that. Coaching is an art and a science.

Can anyone out there recommend a crash course in interpreting pitch shape data? I can read the charts, but struggle to assign goodness or badness to the information I am seeing on them.
