Atlassian are building a 40 storey building in the Sydney CBD and struggling so sublease all of the empty floors in it. And are deep in the hole with the developer for a 15 year lease. Lmao. Idiots.

Our Freedom City policies reduce the number of arrests for low level offenses such as possession of marijuana and driving without a license. These help all Austinites but especially immigrants for whom this type of arrest can lead to ICE detention. ilrc.org/community-reso…

This is one of the biggest ongoing scandals in Austin The convention center was sold to us as a massive driver of tourism and a benefactor of the arts Yesterday a commissioner went off on that because the Hotel tax numbers haven’t dipped at all since center has been closed

There is one group of right-wingers on Twitter saying Austin is a giant homeless camp shithole and another group that says it’s a paradise of freedom, prosperity and beautiful people. Joe Lonsdale is in both groups.

Texans come first. I’m directing state agencies and universities to freeze new H-1B visa petitions. Texas taxpayers invest billions to train our workforce. Those jobs should go to Texans. Texas is the strongest economic engine in America. We’re going to keep it that way. houstonchronicle.com/politics/texas…

Jersey City can't be a place where it's easier to build a highrise than to celebrate Filipino culture on our streets. We ran a campaign for the people, not the powerful. Now we're governing that way too.

Austin city government spent $1.9 million on DEI salaries in 2023.

Last week, Council passed an item making it easier to enforce and remove graffiti on private property. This has been a priority of mine, and I’m very happy we’re moving forward on this. Austinites want to live in a clean city. They want to experience Austin’s natural beauty without having to see vandalism or graffiti. With this council action and the graffiti pilot we funded in the approved FY25-26 budget, we’ll be able to investigate complaints, provide notice to property owners, and arrange for clean-up by a third-party contractor as needed, either at the City's expense or as part of abatement. We need to do more, but this is a good step forward. Learn more: services.austintexas.gov/edims/document…

One point I'm hearing a lot is that if we didn't have H1Bs, than companies would just offshore instead of hiring local. 1. Doesn't that imply H1B is a cost saving thing? If they were the same price as locals, why suddenly switch to cheaper labor? 1/2

Americans just want their jobs back.
