Here’s how this Data Center’s generators starts up in the morning in Florida Notice the constant stream of heavy black smoke Remember just a couple years ago when using electricity and diesel caused climate change, now data centers use as much power as cities and its no problem

Am I crazy for not being worked up about a massive data center in the west desert that will provide all of its own (clean) energy, and secured the water rights for its own closed loop cooling system?

I’m not one for defending airlines from service cuts but this is absolutely much to do about nothing. 350 miles in a commercial jet takes about 60-70 minutes. 40 minutes of that is either in departure or arrival, when flight attendants don’t serve anyway. So, essentially, people are bitching about not getting snacks during the 20 minutes at cruise. 20 minutes! Cowboy up, folks, and pick up a drink or something to eat in the terminal and carry it on. If 20 minutes is unbearable, you might be an alcoholic. @Delta

@auntcorna @zacharoni_07 Besides air quality, Utah doesn’t require environment impact studies to be done. There are about 18 different states that do, but Utah isn’t one of them. If we feel like those should be done we should ask the legislature to pass a law that requires it.

All these people do is lie. The data center is building its own power sources. And it’s going to reuse its own water. This is just ignorance coming from people who hate technology and hate markets. They have Stone Age mindsets, and don’t understand how anything works.

Why are Utahns mad? This data center will use more than 2x of the ENTIRE STATE’S current power usage and will be powered entirely by natural gas. It will be placed in the desert which due to topography has extremely limited water and (already) the worst air quality in the USA.

@RichardHanania Don't forget, it's going to generate ungodly amounts of tax revenue for the state. This could have been in California if the state was more amenable to development (we have tons of empty desert land).

You’re usually 100-150 miles into a flight before you’ve reached cruising altitude no? And then once you prepare for descent you’re right back in your seat belts. There’s really not enough time for flight attendants to make rounds on short flights. This makes sense to me.

BREAKING: Delta Air Lines will no longer offer free snacks or drinks on all flights starting May 19th (under 350 miles). Meanwhile, Delta CEO Ed Bastian received $27.1 million in 2024. Consumers lose, every single time.

I’m the only developer of data centers on earth that graduated from environmental studies. I'm pretty aware of what these concerns are. They are around air, water use, heat, noise pollution. So sustainability is at the heart of what we do in terms of all these proposals. We search for the best technology. There's many air-cooled turbines now, so you're blending in air-cooled versus water. There's so many different ways to generate power. We can also put a percentage of the power generation through solar, wind, and batteries because the battery technology is 10X more efficient than it was just five years ago. So that's very helpful because it makes the cost of energy lower.
