@jakemmccleary It is genuinely pretty good. Superior to McDonalds, Wendy’s and Burger King, but not at In’n’out burger tier.

Brad Pitt’s favorite Adam Sandler story: Sandler’s acting professor didn’t think he was good enough for acting, so he took him out for a beer to tell him gently. “You just don’t have it.” Then one day, Sandler was with his friends in a bar at the height of his career. He was getting big paychecks and all that. He looked over at a table and realized it was his professor. He had the perfect chance to rub it in his face. But he didn’t. He just introduced his friends to him and simply said: “That’s the only teacher who ever bought me a beer.”

Yep. This reminds me of skiing “fair cover” at Mt Buller in the late 1980s and early ‘90s before snow cams became a thing!

@C_3C_3 [3/3 cont] 3.And while slavery was central to the U.S. Civil War, the causes and motivations were more complex than this post suggests. We don’t have to oversimplify history to be proud of the U.S. — the truth is strong enough on its own.

Want some truth? There are ~195 sovereign countries in the World and all 195 have had slavery. But… Out of those 195 countries the United States is the only one that fought a full scale Civil War to end it.

@DeanTTraining “300% more effective than deadlifts” is a wild and BS claim. This is just a loaded back extension—great for glutes with lower spinal load, sure. But it doesn’t replace heavy hinges for strength or full-body stimulus. Good tool, not magic.

This exercise is approximately 300% more effective than Deadlifts All you have to do is… - Locate a Smith Machine - Wheel a 45° Extension base over to it - Play around with the placement so you know it’s lined up - Perform 2-3 sets of 5-10ish reps taken to failure or close
Andrés Felipe Cárdenas Velásquez@anthrexmde

@DeanTTraining This can be done in a smith machine with the Romanian chair ?

@SamaHoole Love the confidence, but this is bro-science wrapped in caveman fan fiction. Your body doesn’t run on a simple ‘100,000 calories vs 400 calories’ ledger — it responds to signals. In a fasted state those signals shift away from muscle protein synthesis and towards breakdown.

People ask me how I train fasted without worrying about losing muscle. Let's do the maths. I have, at any given moment, somewhere north of 100,000 calories of stored energy on my body. Fat, mostly. Some glycogen. The fat alone would keep a reasonably active person alive for months. I am about to lift heavy things for 45 minutes. I will burn, being generous, 400 calories. My body: which evolved over roughly two million years of hunting, and occasionally running away from things that wanted to eat it, is apparently going to respond to this 45-minute effort by eating my muscle. Instead of the 100,000 calories sitting right there. Instead of the fat it evolved specifically to store and mobilise for exactly this kind of demand. Instead of the glycogen it's protecting because I'm fat-adapted and not doing 20-rep sets that would actually drain it. My ancestors did not eat a bowl of porridge before deciding whether to chase the mammoth. The mammoth presented itself. You either performed in a fasted state or your tribe had a very difficult week. Natural selection had no interest in people whose muscles disappeared the moment breakfast was delayed. The mammoth didn't wait. The body learned to perform without waiting either. I am not losing muscle. I am using the system the way the system was designed. The 400-calorie session, the 100,000-calorie reserve, the fat-adapted metabolism that doesn't panic at the sight of an empty stomach. Eat when you've finished, if you want. Or don't. The muscle will still be there. It was there for the entire Pleistocene. It can manage a Monday morning.

@JohnnyFDK @Civixplorer The RAV4 isn’t a car. It’s a lifestyle choice for people who think mayonnaise is too spicy. It’s the automotive equivalent of decaf - technically the same thing, but missing the entire point. It’s the vehicular embodiment of “that’ll do”!

It's sad to see the state of our country. 99% of people don't need anything bigger than a RAV4...which happens to be the only good vehicle on that list. Meanwhile all the gas guzzling F150 drivers are the reason why our country went to war in Venezuela and Iran and continue to be lenient Russia.

@DeanTTraining Umm - hard no there. I’ve visited 3 Planet Fitness locations and their equipment is awful! Unlike what is shown here, there are almost zero plate loaded machines. Just selectorized ones with low max weight. No free barbells either! I’ve been very disappointed!

Lindsey Vonn shares her actual X-rays post 6+ surgeries!!! Looks like a severe proximal tibia fracture. Tibial plateau fracture + Metaphyseal/Tibial Shaft fracture Appears that fibula is intact. Unclear if the femur was involved. Based on initial photos, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an open wound and possible fasciotomy due to compartment syndrome. LONG rehab journey ahead but nothing she hasn’t done probably 5 times already. Mind you eventually she will (likely) have to have her ACL reconstructed. Good luck girl!

@operationdanish People know a chatbot for a second opinion isn’t a doctor - nobody thinks they’re suing it. Our data is already sold by health systems and EHR vendors. Docs & hospitals aren’t free of corporate influence either. And clinicians already use LLM AIs. Let’s not pretend otherwise

@DrAkhilX Good Samaritan law doesn’t govern U.S. flights — the Aviation Medical Assistance Act does. There is no grey area in either. Immunity turns on gross negligence, not a courtesy drink. There’s no ‘voucher loophole.’ If you’re not versed in U.S. law, don’t present guesses as fact.

If you are a doctor traveling on a flight and you are called upon for an emergency, and you have successfully managed the emergency, but if you accept anything from the flight crew (even if it is a drink or a travel voucher), that will count as compensation for your services. A cunning lawyer can use it against you in a malpractice suit if things go bad after the patient you have handled deteriorates after reaching the hospital. If you do not accept any compensation of any kind, then only you are covered under the "Good Samaritan law."
