The shooting of Charlie Kirk is awful and reprehensible - political violence has no place in America. Thinking of his family and friends and hope the attacker is quickly brought to justice by law enforcement. 🙏🇺🇸

Horrendous news from PA. In America, we settle our differences through our votes, not violence. Violence is never the answer.

Political violence is an assault on democracy itself and must be condemned without conditions. It represents a loosening of the social contract and unleashes the worst elements. Attempts to rationalize or score points fan the flames. Beware of those who try.

There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.

So now that Joe Biden has freed DNC delegates to make their own choices, might I suggest they consider supporting Dean Phillips, the only other elected with pledged delegates. He’s 54, sane and the only one who had the courage to stake his career on what we now know was right.

Political violence is against the democratic values that we, as both Americans and members of the Forward Party, hold dear. Our thoughts are with the victims of today's violence, their families, and their loved ones. We urge all Americans, no matter their party affiliation or registration, to join us in strongly condemning this attack on former President Trump and all acts of political violence and to work toward a more united America.

This is a terrible moment in America. No one - no one - should be subject to violence because of their political views. I hope the perpetrator is brought to justice and Trump recovers fully.
