Alright ReTwit, I just finished Trammell Crow: Master Builder.
If you’d like to read it next, like and retweet this post. I will pick a winner and mail it to you next week.
Rules: Must stay in ReTwit. Whoever read it last pays for shipping to the next person.

I lost the @patcarino round, so @johnwillingham1 was kind enough to throw his copy into the rotation. We now have two floating around. Once I finish, it will go on to another ReTwit home. Thank you, John!

@TheDealMakerGuy From your experience, how do you suggest building those skills in loan origination & fundraising?

If your edge is shortcuts in Excel, perfectly balanced models, or pretty decks, you have no edge.
The real moat is sourcing deals, raising capital, and building relationships. That is what keeps you valuable in this industry.
I was an analyst at a PE fund, so I know exactly how hard it is to get this type of exposure early.
But push your way in when you have to. Sit in on your MDs’ meetings, volunteer for sourcing work, ask to join calls, get in the room whenever possible.
Do the monkey job in the evenings and use AI to get through the grunt work faster so you can actually focus on the parts that matter.
Finance has always rewarded the people who bring in revenue, not the ones who only build beautiful models or decks.
The sooner you internalize this, the better your career will compound.
If you want real job security, learn to originate, network, fundraise, sell. Learn how to make people trust you and want to work with you. AI can automate a lot, but it still can’t win hearts or bring in dollars.

Vista Equity Partners looks like its the first Private Equity firm planning significant AI-related workforce cuts in the coming years. The Sponsor is planning on mainly targeting operations, IR, and junior analyst positions.
