This week Labor released our plan to maximise the upsides and minimise the risks of AI in Australia. Part of that is about legislating standards for data centres, making sure that creatives maintain control of their work, and centralising AI in the work of the Cabinet and the government. There is no place for discrimination, racism or any type of hate in our society. There is a lot more we need to do here, and education can play an important part in that. We’ve already started this work. We are working on the curriculum to strengthen understanding of Australian values and we have created a Social Cohesion Education Hub that has resources for teachers. We’re now taking the next step by establishing the Social Cohesion Advisory Council to do ongoing work to strengthen social cohesion across the education system. Part of its work will be providing advice to government on the key recommendations of the Respect at Uni report. It will also do a review of the school curriculum, focusing on strengthening racial and religious tolerance. And it will develop a Social Cohesion Framework for schools to help teachers and school leaders do this.

Today marks 12 years since the downing of Flight MH17. 298 passengers lost their lives, including 38 people who called Australia home. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. Australia remains committed to holding Russia accountable for this horrific act.

Australian writers, musicians, artists and journalists will always have ownership and control of their work. Our laws will spell that out, plain as day.

Education Ministers met in Sydney today to discuss important reforms in education. That includes our half a billion dollar investment to strengthen safety in child care, the reforms we’re rolling out as part of fixing the funding of public schools, our national anti-bullying plan, and next steps on curriculum reform. Also great to be joined by David Gonski AC the Chair of the Antisemitism Education Taskforce to hear about how we’re strengthening antisemitism education and understanding of Australian values in schools.

They could have crawled into a ball. But they did the opposite. They created a foundation and they have led work to fulfil Charlotte’s wish to make sure what happened to her doesn’t happen to anyone else. We will continue our work to make Charlotte’s wish come true when Mat and Kelly join Education Ministers this week.

GET THE FACTS: Australia’s gross debt as a share of the economy is lower than any major advanced economy. Gross debt in the last financial year was almost $200 billion lower than what we inherited. We're not immune from global instability but we’re confronting these challenges from a position of genuine relative economic strength.

Every taxpayer just got another tax cut under Labor, and there’s more to come.

A great win for gig workers! We passed our Closing Loopholes reforms to give these hardworking people & their families better pay and conditions. The three right wing parties on the other hand - the Liberals, Nationals & One Nation - all voted together against these reforms. Their record speaks for itself.
