@SebAaltonen It's crazy how long that windows sleep-wakeup bug has been around. Can't someone take a serious look at it and fix it?

When I joined Unity, I got a 13" MacBook. It got the infamous bufferfly keyboard, slow quad core CPU and a slow Intel iGPU. Got a Magic Mouse too. My Windows computers were superior. I used Mac only for Metal dev and Zoom. Never liked it. It was overpriced too. I bought a 14" M1 Max when I joined HypeHype. Again for Metal dev. It was the best laptop I have ever used. Full day battery life, 120Hz 1600 nit HDR display, fastest CPU in the market, GPU performance tied to Nvidia when running on battery (Nvidia throttles >50%, Apple doesn't), great new keyboard design, big trackpad, never wakes up in backpack (Windows laptops sleep is unreliable). It was super expensive (4200€), but at least you get top tier hardware for top tier money nowadays. Today I am running a M3 Max. It's practically identical to M1 Max, except it compiles C/C++ code twice as fast and it has a notably faster GPU. M6 Max will be my next laptop. With dual layer OLED screen. Nothing can change my mind.

i personally don't know anyone who has owned a macbook and then switched to a non-mac because it was better

@bailout00 @BrodieOnLinux Which would be fine to do if they weren't so dominant. But It's argued they fall under antitrust law, which would mean it is illegal for them to do so.

@bmcnett Back when global meant global, across "applications" all the way to the base routines of the system.

@Hasen_Judi @zack_bitcoin No, the traveling salesman problem actually has clear rules. It's a well defined abstract problem. Computational complexity is the basis for encryption, you can brute force break any encryption, it's about the size of the search space making it infeasible.

@zack_bitcoin The traveling sales man problem is a search problem where you are trying to solve a puzzle. There's no rule that tells what happens next. Physics, I assume, is determined by rules where next state is determined by previous state, and you don't need "search" to simulate it.

Why is "protein folding" unsolved? Isn't it just physics? I thought all the physics at the molecular level was known and solved. They keep telling us that. Why can't they just run a physical simulation of it on the computer?

@being_mudit If someone needs a higher level guarantee, they could try and find some vendor willing to sign a contract to cover that for them. I feel this is a really useful compromise in our economy and legal framework. What's the alternative?

@being_mudit Anyone using FFmpeg is doing so under the license they have with it, if that license doesn't stipulate responsibility for security patches there isn't and shouldn't be any legal liability on them. Moral? Yeah, go ahead and debate.

FFmpeg handle is like a clown show at this point. They literally are pasting the same comment from last 2 days.

In Nodezator's dev branch: changed the magnetic sockets feature to make it closer to what I envisioned originally: the nodes had hands and would help you by grabbing the new connection for you. The hands are CC0 assets from the excellent @KenneyNL #Python #nodeeditor

The constant long Unity loading screens and pauses are not good for my ADHD. They are long enough for me to loose focus. This is becoming an accessibility issue! 😉
