They Will Not Replace Us
They Will Not Replace Us@WTP_REPORT·
@bvsedgrace @itsmorganariel Unfortunately most, probably 70% will not attempt much when basic living necessities are met. Once UBI is started, there will be mass culling so that those on the top have more and those just trying to survive and ouve their lives will be better in the way. Get out of the cities.

I’d rather die than be on a fixed income. Don’t tell me how successful I can be. The government will not own me. This is anti-American.

We should be able to say "we don't know what the world economy will look like in 2035" It's okay to say "I don't know" when there is insufficient information. It's also okay to be cautious of sweeping proposals made by people who consistently get timeline predictions wrong.

@autist458 @JohnTeufelNYC @alinastan58 You can't accept that predictions are not reality. It's like the very idea can't get through your skull. Cower in fear if you want. Sell yourself to the machines and the government for their pittance. Let the robots wipe your ass. I won't.

"if you let our AIs take your jobs, we promise that we - the people who have opposed every form of wealth redistribution for our entire public careers - will give you massive wealth redistribution!" You have to be a literal fucking shit for brains to buy this stuff

@EviI_Otto @JohnTeufelNYC @alinastan58 That’s because these are the types of companies who developed it. It’s just not hit other white collar sectors yet, but it will and soon. Coding requires way more critical thinking than the average white collar job.

@autist458 @JohnTeufelNYC @alinastan58 WHAT is happening? How many jobs have been actually lost to AI? Do you know? A couple hundred thousand, almost all in coding and customer service. That's it. That's what you're panicking over.

@autist458 @JohnTeufelNYC @alinastan58 Ooh, let me. Here goes: FUCKING IGNORE DIRE PREDICTIONS OF DOOM. Try it. This idea that everyone is going to be out of work because of robots and AI is the same nonsense we hear every time there's a new technology. Both are tools. Nothing more.

@EviI_Otto @JohnTeufelNYC @alinastan58 So ill ask you the same question I asked him, of which I NEVER get an answer: What’s your solution to the catastrophic and permanent job losses coming from AI/Robotics, that will benefit corporations on both sides via reduced human capital costs and increased productivity?

I actually think we will have UBI in 20 years. Going to be very interesting to watch the cognitive bottom 50% spend their money on weed, motor toys, and gambling, next 40% on cruises and theme parks, and the rest on art, tools, gardening, books. Real H.G. Wells / Huxley stuff.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

@VoterIndy You have no idea what’s possible if we try. Giving up before it’s tried and having no other solution to the problem is not an alternative.

@autist458 Yeah you aren’t gong to be getting a million dollar salary on UBI you’ll be getting enough money to pay for the gov housing gov bills, gov healthcare, shitty gov food. You aren’t going to have any left over to pursue your art and travel.

@4nt1p4tt3rn You’re talking about greed. Not inflation. Greed is what will make companies raise prices far and above cost.

Not understanding how inflation works. Let me help: Government hands out money to everyone (increasing debt and, likely, deficit). All retailers know everyone is getting the same amount, or at least knows what the minimum amount is. Prices increase to account for the monthly windfall everyone receives. Voila, inflation. When everyone has $n, no one has $n. It is the very unknowability of a random customer's purchasing power that keeps prices low-ish (along with competition, which preys on customer's willingness to buy at a given price).

@Pro__Trading A good point for sure. But you simply asked: where are the ai jobs? I just gave you two examples. There are others esp in tech or cos making their own ai data ctrs. Now, if your point is no explosion of jobs. You are right. But that wasnt promised.

"AI is going to create so many more jobs." OK, when's that gonna start happening then? Because all we've seen thus far is AI taking jobs not creating jobs. And even if they do create new jobs, why would those new jobs be better off done by humans not other robots? They wouldn't.

@VoterIndy Well if you don’t have a solution, you should imagine how exponentially more fucked people will be *without* UBI.

@Tomjones890392 @travis4nh That wasn’t my point though. My point is that the bad side of towns will become not so bad or even possible good if you reduce the poverty levels within them.

@travis4nh Universal High income means that moderate levels of income differentiation will no lover enable a person to escape the people who are negligent and violent. That is why “housing is expensive”… because having neighbors that can afford expensive houses is great.
