Giveaway. @HCAdamSec and @SecureAerospace are sponsoring today’s giveaway of a set of the sold-out Aerospace Village 2024 & 2025 DEF CON badge + SAO. This badge is a fully custom (and hackable) Linux SBC with integrated ADS-B receiver, GPS, and more. The “Charlie” SAO adds even more capabilities including listening to Air-Band VHF audio, broadcast FM (in stereo!) and weather radio on a grayscale OLED, all made possible with a plethora of hardware hacks! The Aerospace Village is a non-profit organization where aerospace security and hacker culture come together to build a more secure aerospace future. - Leave a comment below for a chance to win - United States only

I've released gr-satellites v5.9.0. gr-satellites is a collection of GNU Radio decoders for amateur satellites. This release adds support for recently launched satellites, as well as new blocks that can be used to put together an AX100-compatible modem with CSMA.

@SwiftOnSecurity Honestly pretty easy to do, ADS-B signals are pretty easy to decode. Just shows the power of the ESP32.

@SwiftOnSecurity my desire to understand how to build this type of radar as a badge has never been stronger. Is there a github for the software used? I have a vague understanding of ADB-S and SDRs so I think I could tinker with this.

@DecryptedTech @HCAdamSec It was a design decision to keep the front cleaner. Same with the SAO connector. We’ve found some prefer the cleaner look. Plus since it’s a hacking conference, we figured a little soldering isn’t a bad thing. 🙂 @HCAdamSec did a great job with that internal antenna.

@HCAdamSec I am aware of that :-) Still disappointed that the external antenna port was not soldered onto the board.

Did anyone else get an aerospace village badge that did not have the antenna soldered on? Mine was loose in the bag :(

During DC32 I was disappointed to learn that Hack-A-Sat had been discontinued, and there were no space-themed CTFs.We couldn’t let @defcon 33 go by without bringing the excitement of space hacking back—and now, we’re making it happen! andy.codes/blog/personal/… #CTF #defcon33 #dc33

So thanks to @HCAdamSec for going to get those things. Not only is he a hardware genius, but apparently can lift heavy objects as well.

Ok, paging any LNA & SAW filter experts to the thread. What do you see here? I got LNA -> SAW -> LNA -> SAW, but what do the part numbers tell us? It clearly works well, but I love a good RF chat.

tl;dr The dish has a little more gain than the helix. Ok, so rushed home and unpacked the dish and feed. The two key bits. The dish and (in my case) the L-Band #Inmarsat #ACARS feed. Later home than I wanted, so failing light. If you want better photos just let me know. 1/

@KingCryptoad @SecureAerospace I hope to, but time keeps slipping away. Might have to just focus on the big batch for DC33. But you’re watching the right spot.

The 2024 @SecureAerospace badge we made for this year’s DEF CON is back in stock on Tindie. There will likely be another small release before the end of the year and the rest will be saved for DC33. tindie.com/products/35966/
