Concerning that, even before using chatGPT, today's kids have just one thirtieth of the neural connections of the nematode worm C. elegans.
Alex Vacca@itsalexvacca
Brain scans revealed the damage: neural connections collapsed from 79 to just 42. That's a 47% reduction in brain connectivity. If your computer lost half its processing power, you'd call it broken. That's what's happening to ChatGPT users' brains.

Meetings often drift off-track. Can AI help us reflect in the moment and realign?
Our #CHI2025 paper explores how AI-assisted interventions influence goal reflection during workplace meetings.

Delighted that these brilliant people were elected to parliament last week 🌹🌹🌹
I was fortunate enough to spend some time with them, and to take their photos. Looking forward to seeing what they do next!

Finally shrinking the pile to the point where I can thoroughly read this interesting essay on "illusions of understanding in sci research" due to AI.
Folks like @emollick probably should read it (perhaps he already has). /1

✨That’s a wrap for our first workshop on Theory of Mind in Human AI Interaction at #chi2024
💕Despite all the technical difficulties everyone was so patient, supportive, and engaged throughout the paper talks, group activities, and invited panel.

Can🧠metacognition help us understand and improve #GenerativeAI system usability? We think so in our upcoming #CHI2024 paper: arxiv.org/abs/2312.10893

This theory paper argues that the usability challenges of generative AI arise from extra demands on users' metacognition i.e. their ability to think about their thinking. Following this, we describe some ways systems can support users' metacognition! arxiv.org/abs/2312.10893 3/3

Have you ever joined a meeting and thought, "Why are we even here??" This paper describes people's contrasting mental models of `meeting goals', and argues that meeting interfaces miss many opportunities to catalyse intentionality arxiv.org/abs/2402.18526 2/3

Now they're fully accepted, I am excited to share two upcoming contributions to #CHI2024! Both papers are products of collaborations with @MSFTResearch - shout out to @lev_tank and @seanrintel and the rest of the team!! Looking forward to Hawaii! 1/3
