I feel like people arguing with the artist fail to realize that if someone puts someone's art in AI to "get ideas" there's a strong chance they're gonna do it again with the new art. I have it in my TOS too that I will decline a request if given AI references

Genuinely agree with this thread. Support real artists, they literally do so much for Vtubers, and deserve the acknowledgment for how much care they pour into every single project they do. Fuck AI “art” 🤖 👏 Also if you can’t afford to commission? Pick up a pencil and learn 💅

🧵🪡A thread of my thoughts on this: It genuinely baffles me that other vtubers use AI for a model or artwork or art assets. Their excuse being that they are broke and cannot afford a model. Please I am begging you to not disrespect artists {THE VERY BACKBONE OF THIS COMMUNITY BY THE WAY} and do not use Gen AI since it steals art from existing artworks.

I never said it's black and white, there's a lot of in-betweens. If you'd like some sources for human VAs I know CastingCall Club is a good start, other than that if it's like the generic voices provided by the site or something then I don't think it's wrong? I'm not sure since VA ai isn't something I'm educated as much, I'll look into it when I'm more healthy I understand that some people couldn't do some stuff since they aren't wealthy or have the funds. Some people voice a character themselves or get their friends on it to voice certain characters^^ I'm not rich so I made most of my stuff myself and commed other artists when I was able to save enough for their prices. Hopefully one day you can have enough funds to access other resources of your liking!

@AvaLambent Fair enough. Just try to understand some people use it like myself to accomplish something i couldn't do unless I was more wealthy. I pay for everything I can art and otherwise. That said I cannot afford VA's but one day when I can id love to. Its not always black and white

I’m gonna be real honest, I feel that Vtubing as of right now is in a very bad state. Plagued with AI, scams, bots, most of the agencies are gone. Bullying and harassment it’s all over the place. To any new Vtubers, please be kind to one another and stay safe 🙏

As for the 'circle of life' argument all I can say to that stupid line is that every art is usually posted online, and yes it’s easier for people to copy or misuse it, and that risk can’t be completely removed. We all know the risk of posting our but the accessibility to these things isn’t permission for anyone to steal them. Artists still deserve respect for their rights, and if you enjoy someone’s work, supporting them directly helps ensure they can continue creating! Whether the support is using free assets or commissioning them or whatnot, please always support Human Creativity! AI should be doing our chores and assist us to make life easy, it should not do our hobbies and art and fun while we slave away for chores!

4.) As an artist myself we have always learned by studying others. Looking at anatomy, composition, or color choices is VERY VERY different from reproducing someone’s work or using it to generate competing images without permission. We create the artwork with our hands and bodies and ideas, we don't steal parts from existing artworks to generate an image.
