But I do agree w u that many black women don’t value the black man either. The difference is with hard work, I believe that can be healed up.

This Ryan Coogler LGBTQ conversation is stupid and misguided. He doesn’t need to make any queer focused content, nor should he be obligated to even feature queer characters. What he SHOULD do is mentor and uplift Black queer writers and galvanize their work.

Ryan Coogler’s bodies of work all seem to be stories that are personal to him and his upbringing. So noting the absence of queerness in his movies just doesn’t seem fair (to me.) Can we give him a chance to get to that story first (if he even feels drawn to do that)?

For all we know, there were queer black folks in the movie b/c in that time, for the sake of their lives, they presented as hetero men & women with families. They couldn’t live outloud.

@karlogan_ I don’t think anyone is asking for him to do a queer epic love story, but just that maybe some supporting or side characters are queer and exist in the world of his stories. I mean if he can include a Chinese couple in Sinners, some queer black folks in another movie can exist
