No. THE FIRST HUMAN was fighting against true resets and/or resets in general. And this is something flowey ONLY realizes in hindsight. Sans and flowey paint resets as a timeloop. Flowey lets us know that during these loops theres only so much you can get out of it and that people are locked into the same reactions to things and that those who have the power of controlling SAVE files will remember these loops and are somehow... out of bounds of the normal NPC video game logic before someone more powerful comes along. now im thinking the first humans goal of "freedom" was LITERALLY freeing monsters from the time loop by any means necessary. and giving everyone freedom. Breaking the barrier and getting the end state of true pacifist. I'm only considering this now with kris as context.

The lack of choice was a metaphor for whether or not you can accept that dark curiosity in yourself as categorically true.

the player is diegetic in undertale. i sometimes see people talk about this as if it's ambiguous or something but it really isn't. chara directly converses with the player in the genocide endings (and no, they're not "talking to frisk")

@Shyeo_1 @hssnjshahahha katie's community is highkey chill so i think it wont go very far. plus ewroon and she's relationship is extremely comedic so if any ship stuff does come up itll be in the same funny register they rp in.

undertale literally teaches you how souls and determination work. the naming of the human is now the naming of you. insane expansion of the themes around power, completionism, and personal identity of the protagonist. i tweak when people say they’re not related.

gaster’s name defaulting to CHARA in the vote is lore appropriate. CHARA or CHARACTER is the true name bevause the first fallen human’s filename is literally “truechara.” it’s not a name it’s a description. and defaulting to CHARA is even what happens if you remove your name through file editing.
