Lamina Labs is building the fastest infra for explainer videos.
The first product from @laminalabs, Simi, turns any prompt or document into a whiteboard-style explainer video in seconds, across 80+ languages, so anyone can explain anything clearly.
Congrats on the launch, @sudiprokaya and @mk314k!

here we go 🚀
Y Combinator@ycombinator
tday (@designtday) builds marketing on autopilot for software companies— turning every shipped feature into demo videos, social posts, and graphics, so teams can market as fast as they build. Congrats on the launch, @cyruskellyadl, @s43stha & @David_l_mcd1! ycombinator.com/launches/Qd3-t…

@sama just offered $2M in OpenAI tokens to every YC startup in the current batch in exchange for equity.
As a founder in this batch, this is wild. $2M of compute is the difference between shipping cautiously and shipping at full speed.
Building @laminalabs, we generate AI explainer videos at scale, faster than anything else out there. We code with AI, we build with AI, tokens are the lifeblood of how we ship.
Compute is the new capital. And Sam just made the most aggressive bet on this batch I've ever seen.
Let's go.

how my dream of winning a Nobel Prize led me to this life?
why do people with massive ambitions always end up doing well, even when they fail?
I used to think ambition was about the destination.
now I think ambition is the gym. a billion dollar goal is the heaviest weight in the room. I'm not talking about the money, I'm talking about the weight of the goal. you probably won't lift it. but training for it makes everything else feel light.
that's why big dreamers always land somewhere good, even when they miss.
that's why I'm here.
my last post about my grades blew up. most people related to it.
I was always average, maybe below average in the classroom. because I was studying everything outside the coursework. Steve Jobs. the universe. physics equations. music theory. I was also mostly a troublemaker. spent more time outside the classroom as punishment than inside it.
I still think about those days. feeling so low because I was judged so heavy, even though I knew I had this curse of knowledge that nobody around me understood. my teachers didn't get it. my friends didn't get it.
I still remember my 8th grade math teacher. I told him I wanted to be a scientist. he said "a butcher knows more about organs than a doctor, but the doctor still has more respect. you're going to be the butcher."
that hit me so hard I cried.
I could have given up right there. but the next day I dreamt even bigger. I wanted to win the Nobel Prize.
crazy dream. I probably won't win one. but because of that crazy ambition, it took me on an incredible path.
a billion dollar ambition won't make you a billionaire. but it'll make you something most people never become. someone who actually tried.

Today I spent a few hours building something similar to Simi by @laminalabs. It’s nowhere near Simi yet, and it’s pretty slow too 😅 , just learning and experimenting with stuff. @sudiprokaya

@sudiprokaya Ok, You guys are doing great, say my hello to @mk314k dai, i am really excited to build on top of lamina-sdk

Simi generates whiteboard-style explainer videos from a single prompt. Any topic. Any length. In seconds.
In this demo, I gave @NousResearch's Hermes Agent a Simi skill through Slack.
I asked it to explain mechanistic interpretability. It produced a full 2 minute and 6 second whiteboard explainer video in under 60 seconds under the hood.
No templates. No video editor. No design tools. One API call through lamina-sdk.
But this isn't just an agent trick. Simi is video generation infrastructure. EdTech companies use it to generate thousands of explainer videos a day, turning any lesson, any concept, any curriculum into a visual walkthrough that students actually watch.
And yes, it works inside any agent framework too. Hermes, OpenClaw, Claude Code, Cursor, Slack bots, wherever. If it can make an API call, it can make videos.
We're @laminalabs, @ycombinator P26. The era of explaining things through walls of text is ending.

I GAVE CODEX THE ABILITY TO DRAW.
Not diagrams.
Not flowcharts.
Full whiteboard animated explainer videos. In seconds.
One SDK call. That’s it.
Kubernetes networking? Drawn in 10 seconds.
Your spaghetti auth flow? Animated and clear.
What your team shipped this week? Visual standup, done.
AI agents could talk. Now they can show.
“to draw” is becoming a primitive.
We’re building this at @laminalabs.

Imagine every pixel on your screen, streamed live directly from a model. No HTML, no layout engine, no code. Just exactly what you want to see.
@eddiejiao_obj, @drewocarr and I built a prototype to see how this could actually work, and set out to make it real. We're calling it Flipbook. (1/5)
