The interpretation of behavior into the abstract, and non-universal labels, of emotions is governed by a culture-induced framework in each mind, but subjective to individual persons. We mistake human emotions as universal + objective, but only the physiological apparatus is so.

The combinatorics of endocrine activity (hormones) is finite, across all humans. Potentially, all drawn from exactly the same distribution. Translation of that activity into “emotional behavior” is subjective to a culture + learned behavior. ref Dalmasio + Feldman Barrett (1/2)

Thesis: Neurological performance and speed is associated with lower body fat. Faculties of judgment, less logic but good instinct associated with high body fat. “The power of the gut”. Different physiologies tend to their strengths (brain vs judgment) for survival.

In pre adolescence (7-13), we develop “emotional hues” from our social interactions. These forever color our self narratives and perceptions. Those same emotional hues we carry as ossified legacies through life. Unless we somehow unwrapped them and rewire.

Stubborn self-believing self-confidence. Or Serene self-effacing self-awareness. Or Finding the somewhere in between.

Not every person has complete clarity or good expression of thought. But they can still have good intuition. Listen well for the best interpretation of someone’s words and thoughts. Listen for their intuition.

Self-selection drives the vast majority of human systems. Not command and control.

Every human being, Can listen and can learn. Just each in their own very unique way.

For a company to retain great culture as it ages. Needs as much attention as a person needs to stay fit, as they age.

In time, everyone is humbled. Start humble as early as possible. You learn a little bit faster.

Make working hard, easy. - what I would tell my 15 year old self. Make working smart, habitual. - what I would tell my 23 year old self.

Both the intellect and emotional intelligence have tremendous capacity to compound as we age. It needs experience, challenge, reflection and openness to growth. Then we compound, with every year.

The mark of a person: Can you stay a decent thoughtful human being… .. even when having your worst day.
