It was fine when they were all famine-struck peasants but if you're a rich vegetarian you need to adjust to eating proportionally far more legumes & dairy to carbs.

@GhostofTaraki If they really insist on being veg, why hasn't anyone suggested serving traditional meat dishes with mock meats made from soy or gluten? Seems like it would be the most rational solution if you want to maintain a veg menu but need to impress people accustomed to meat.

@lalit_dhalia @frontierindica 1) Tons of Indians are still literal peasants so poverty might be a big part of the problem. 2) The lack of the soybean in Indian veg cuisine hampers it a lot nutritionally, soy is comparable to meat in protein density and you can do a ton of stuff with it.
