Trump made very specific promises about bringing widespread, dramatic DEflation — not just ending major inflation, which has already happened. It was the reason he was elected, and he needs to be held accountable to those promises.

just thinking about how crazy it is that a virus came and made everyone unhappy and because of that most elected governments flipped power, but because a large part of the world doesnt really vote its going to be the biggest move to worldwide authoritarianism in a century.

This will become more clear over time but I think we now know this was an unwinnable race. The larger implications for a two party system in which one party can nominate the most sociopathic, brain-mushed, violent criminal and it still not affect macro-economic trends is enough to destroy the entire system.

Latest numbers: across the seven battleground states, the '20-'24 swing towards Trump was ~3.1 pts. Across the other 43 states (+DC), it was ~6.7 pts. Bottom line: the Harris campaign swam impressively against some very strong underlying currents.

Swalwell: If a young woman in Florida, where a six-week ban is now law, can get up today and find her way through, we can too. And if a soldier in a trench in eastern Ukraine, who just saw their best ally walk away, can keep fighting, we can too. And if a high school student, who’s going to school today in a country that arms mass shooters to the teeth, can get through it, we can too. It doesn’t feel good to lose—it sucks. I hate it, and I hate what this winner says about our country and the people who make it great, but we have work to do. We’ve dealt with this guy before; he’s a one-term president coming in and in serious cognitive decline. We’re not helpless—we’re privileged to be among those who can do something.
