I kid you not… no standard agency charges ₦400k for a website. I agree with selling the outcome, not the website. But I disagree with the “shock them with a lower price” part. I’ve personally worked on an agency’s website project worth well over 7 figures in naira, and that was for Webflow development only. The goal isn’t to shock clients with a lower price. It’s to make them understand the value and charge accordingly.
THE NAJ💜@callmi_koko

Pitching to a hotel or shortlet for example: You don’t tell them “oh you need a website.” You tell them : “What if I told you, every single week, all your rooms could be fully booked but there’s one thing standing between you and that reality. Give them the gap. Sit in their pain for a second. Then introduce the website as the solution. These people already know agency prices range from ₦400k upwards. Shock them with a lesser price and watch them pay. Viola

@AUTOMATEWITHOLA 8 agree with you on the second paragraph. But you see the first paragraph is relative. I work with both Nigerian and Foreign brands. But hey. I don’t work for the masses. I work for selected few. Last year. I worked on only 6 projects. You read that well. Yes. 6 only.

@avstudiosng If you don't charge anything less than $1000, then your target audience is not Nigeria; otherwise, your revenue would not be stable. How many businesses in Nigeria can afford to pay $1,000, about N1,400,000, for a standard website except established ones?

@cryptall3 Samsung, Amazon, Apple, Oraimo are abstract names. And can take any form and product line. “Chow” is associated with food except you don’t want to be honest with yourself. Anyways, check my follow up video. They need rebranding. Expanding is not the problem. But branding is!

@savvy_haye Well said chief. You nailed it. This was my stand on this matter also. Best believe they’re doing that already. But we’d see how that unfolds with time cos “chow”store isn’t a good one at all

I bookmarked your first post to respond later but then saw this follow-up. Your suggestion matches what I wanted to say. To understand what Chowdeck is doing, look at what Zomato (a food delivery company) did in India. When Zomato acquired Blinkit (a quick commerce company), they didn’t merge the two companies, even though they were tempted to. Instead, they restructured and created a parent company, Eternal Limited, keeping Blinkit as its own product, the “everything” app and quick commerce arm. Zomato stayed the food delivery brand everyone knows. I think Chowdeck should emulate this. Right now, Chowstore, their quick commerce branch, is just a tab on the app. The better move is to spin it into a standalone product under a parent company, with its own branding. Because I don’t think Chowstore is the best name for a company selling everything, not just groceries. “Chow” reads as food, full stop. If I were Chowdeck, I’d acquire NawNaw… only if it was launched lol. That said, I am pretty sure Chowdeck is already on the way to do that sha. They might already be restructuring and we might not know.

Chowdeck’s Expansion Strategy Misses the Mark on Branding. Chowdeck’s expansion beyond food delivery is a branding problem, not a business problem. The real issue isn’t diversifying, it’s that they’re asking customers to forget years of brand positioning overnight.

@energy_0x It’s always laughable when people say, “You’re not a founder.” Meanwhile, even if I weren’t a founder, which I am, I still have an in depth understanding of branding that allows me to share my opinion. It doesn’t have to sit well with you.

It's always the people who aren't founders. 😭 As long as it doesn't affect Chowdeck, there's no problem. Meanwhile, me: I order my groceries. I order cooked food. I order my skincare. I order my medication. All I have to do is step out to my veranda, collect my delivery, and go back inside. Bro, I genuinely love @chowdeck . That's what great brand identity looks like the customer is happy, trusts the service, and keeps coming back.

@avstudiosng @essienjoyintech ...affecting revenue for them, hence the need to tap other market. However, the current brand name, positioning and messaging wasn't prepared for that, hence the need for a more strategic process. The Amazon comparison isn't it at all; Amazon sounds generic, Chow does not.
