🚀Just wrapped up the March cohort of my Claude Code for Beginners: 2 Day Launchpad on @MavenHQ This cohort had engineers, PMs, UX and cultural researchers, engineering leaders, CEOs, and consultants from companies like Meta, Salesforce, Gilead Sciences, and Chainalysis. In just a single weekend, they all went from zero Claude Code experience to building their first project with it. Here are some highlights from the live chat 👇 (names and pictures redacted for anonymity)

Pro tip for planning with Claude Code: Use the AskUserQuestionTool The AskUserQuestionTool might be the most underrated feature of Claude Code (shoutout to @trq212 who created it). Before Claude builds anything, I tell it to use the AskUserQuestionTool to interview me about what I'm trying to do. Claude then asks clarifying questions that surface things I might not have fully thought through - e.g) implementation scope, edge cases, design decisions, tradeoffs etc (all in a beautiful interactive Q+A UI). By the time I'm done answering, both Claude and I have way more clarity on what actually matters for the task at hand. It also means that there's no surprises between my ask and what Claude actually builds, ensuring Claude builds what I want, the way I want it. I use the AskUserQuestionTool for everything planning related like creating specs and feature implementation plans. I've even added it to my custom skills where Claude needs to get input from me - (e.g a custom retro skill where Claude suggests stuff to improve and I can select which ideas to act on).

Join me this weekend (Mar 14-15) for Claude Code for Beginners: a 2-day live course where you'll learn the fundamentals and build your first real project with Claude Code. One of the coolest things about the course is that I've designed it to be extremely hands-on. Every topic is taught through a live demo, then you immediately put what you learned into action with in-class build time. And there's live support always available to help debug when you get stuck. You come in on Saturday with an idea for a business or personal project to build with Claude Code. During the weekend you'll create a project spec, build your MVP, add Skills, MCPs, and Plugins to your project, and even try multi-agent development and async task delegation. You walk away on Sunday with a complete project (an app, dashboard, landing page, or workflow), and more importantly the skills and confidence to keep building with Claude Code. If you've been curious what Claude Code can do for your career or business, the next cohort starts this Saturday (March 14-15). Learn more and secure your spot here: claudecode101.ai

@avthar This is brilliant, regardless of your AI skill set/level. I’ve been vibe coding, building agents/apps for sometime now. But even the beginner section had nuggets I wasn’t aware of. Thanks @avthar for doing this!

I've been quietly impressed by the Claude Code Desktop app and how useful it is for both beginners and experienced Claude Code users. This Saturday, I'm hosting a (free) lightning lesson on @MavenHQ, where I'll share everything I've learned about how to build complete projects using just the Claude Code Desktop app. I'll also cover 24+ pro-tips, best practices, and mistakes to avoid, to help you jumpstart your Claude Code builder journey. If you've been thinking about learning Claude Code, but feel intimidated by the terminal, this is for you. Sign up to join live or get the recording to watch later: maven.com/p/535bf9/claud…

Here's how I build every feature with Claude Code. I call it the RPIT process: Research -> Plan -> Implement -> Test Research: (Optional) Ask Claude to create a research report on any APls or new tech needed for the feature. For bigger features where Claude needs to make tech stack decisions or integrate unfamiliar APIs, a research step upfront saves a ton of headaches during implementation. Plan: (The most important step). Use Plan mode to have Claude break down the work and ask you clarifying questions using the AskUserQuestionTool, before it starts writing code. Implement: Let Claude Cook! Claude builds the feature using plugins, Agent Skills and MCPs you've configured. Test: Claude verifies that the feature works through unit tests, integration tests, and even browser automation (e.g Playwright MCP) to check the actual user experience. The RPIT loop works for both simple and complex features. The steps are the same, just adjust how much time you spend on each one.
