For those questioning my Igbo heritage and origin, it is important to set the record straight. My grandfather was Edoga Okeanya, nwa Ugwu, nwa Ezema, the former Atama Adoro Ero, the chief priest of our village oracle. My father, Late Mazi Chukwuma Yunusa Ugwu, who was the Di Okpara of the family, embraced Islam in his youth in the early 1930s. He lived his life as a Muslim and passed away in 2020 upon the same faith. Our roots are deeply embedded in Igbo tradition and history. We come from an oracle family, and this is well known within Ala Igbo. The presence of Muslims in Igboland is neither new nor novel it is a historical reality that has long been acknowledged.
