Australia condemns Iran's strikes on US bases in Qatar and Iraq. We do not want to see further escalation. A full-scale war in the Middle East would be devastating for the people of the region and the world. Australia continues to call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy.

If you are responding to the news the US has bombed Iran with the same agony and grief that I am - it means you’re sane. That is the rational response. None of this is normal. And if you’ve got any sense of pattern recognition, you know what’s coming.

Violence in all its forms is unacceptable. The Antisemitic attacks on Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam overnight are abhorrent. My thoughts are with those affected and their families. We must stand together against antisemitism and hate in all its forms.
