like i had what u might call a “fandom classic” in a massive tumblr-supported fandom in the 2010s and when it reached over 100k hits that was like … unfathomable. my most popular hr fic is nearing 500k hits with 15k kudos… and it wouldn’t even make the first 10 pages of results

heated rivalry fics have such staggering amounts of kudos its almost crazy to watch. not to sound like some Elderly Person (25) but back in my day fics would have 1k-3k kudos and they'd be considered loadbearing fics of the fandom.
